Tonight, the globe witnessed the longest celestial event of the 21st century, a blood moon and lunar eclipse with the totality lasting for 1 hour and 43 minutes. Tonights eclipse was only 4minutes shorter than the longest possible event calculated by astronomers.
The eclipse was viewed in Australia, Africa, Asia, Europe and South America, but unfortunately most of the UK missed out due to thunderstorms and blanketing clouds.
The unusually long duration of the eclipse was caused by a few different things. The moon was its farthest point from Earth and orbiting slowly, making it appear smaller and take longer to travel through Earth's shadow. In addition, Earth was near its aphelion, the point in its orbit farthest from the sun, making its shadow appear larger.
The eclipse officially began at 1:14 p.m. EDT (1714 GMT), according to NASA, and the moon slowly crept into Earth's shadow and began first to darken, then redden, but the full lunar eclipse viewing began at 3:30 p.m. EDT (1930 GMT), when totality began and the moon was fully ensconced in Earth's shadow.
The article below focuses on the spiritual significance and energies surrounding tonights fullmoon and lunar eclipse in Aquarius.
Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse in Aquarius – Spiritual Sustainability
The New Moon and Solar Eclipse in Cancer on 12th July began a necessary process of integration. Having surrendered our direction and our will to the natural flow, our sense of self-definition is changing as we learn to operate from a space of total surrender — of constantly letting go, shifting and changing to meet the shifting flow.
Now, Todays Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse in Aquarius offers some energetic rest and restoration. Finally moving with greater ease and flow, our energy is stabilizing within the natural flow, and we are now in a place from which we can create sustainable growth, anchor our new values and ideals, and develop lasting dynamics.
Let’s look at the energy patterns that are shaping our evolution during this current lunar cycle.
Change from Within
Venus oppose Neptune sesquiquadrate Mars in Aquarius and trine Pluto in Capricorn
A key evolutionary aspect of today’s Lunar Eclipse relates to the planet Venus, which has been forming a direct opposition to Neptune for a couple of days now. The lesson available to us through Venus and Neptune here is, in order to grow we have to be aware of our strengths and vulnerabilities. This full-phase opposition calls us to develop relatability to others. Within the context of the Full Moon, the energy we are working with is helping us re-develop new ways to interact with life. We are building new relationships to the world around us based on new values and ideals, and working to create lives that are nourishing, fulfilling and free from outdated thinking.
Neptune in Pisces has been supporting our journey along this road since 2011, and will continue until 2026. Neptune helps us dissolve our perceptions of reality and supports us in connecting to deeper, more meaningful experiences that ultimately will lead us to witness deeper layers of our selves.
As Venus forms a sesquiquadrate alignment to the Moon and Mars, we will learn that in order to align with more empowering choices, we need to see what the needs of our society are. This angle between Mars and Venus is a powerful one as it reflects the next phase of evolutionary growth regarding our inner and outer relating patterns. Slow progressive inner adjustments over time aligned with your developing needs will ultimately take you to the place you desire to be with.
Sun in Leo oppose Moon in Aquarius square Uranus in Taurus square Jupiter in Scorpio
The ongoing alignment of squares between Jupiter and Uranus to the Lunar Nodes has brought about very profound changes in our personal evolution.
Recently we have had Venus and Mercury both pass over the North Node of the Moon, and subsequently both square Jupiter and Uranus. Now the Sun moves into alignment with the North Node and squares Jupiter and Uranus. Added to the mix is the Moon aligning with the South Node of the Moon and forming a total lunar eclipse. This energy will now close the cycle of tension that has been occurring for us since May 2018.
The story line that we are following with this pattern is in direct relation to a new path of evolutionary growth — one that is rooted in sustainability. We have been slowly progressing along a line in which our values and the time we spend investing in them have been under deep recalibration. As we move along this earthly timeline we are witnessing a dramatic change in the way we see life, how we interact with it, and what it means to us. Individually we are learning to see our desires and dreams in a totally different way. A part of this change involves how we see ourselves individually playing our part in a larger cosmic role. A key to this lunar eclipse is to see yourself as empowered in your own personal creative role.
In working with these energies it is important to note that the ongoing evolutionary cycles take time to form new dimensions of awareness for us to witness and to interact with.
Moving with Ease
Jupiter in Scorpio trine Neptune in Pisces and Uranus in Taurus trine Saturn in Capricorn and the Sun in Leo trine Chiron in Leo.
Amidst the tension of the current alignments we do have a series of supportive energies that are helping guide us along our paths. The Jupiter trine Neptune energy has been offering us increased sensitivity towards seeing our visions come to light. Due to the nature of this energy it can be very easy to be overwhelmed with wanting to hold all of these visions and manifest them into immediate reality. The key to navigating this transit is to slowly feel into which of your insights has a practical application to your life and which one leaves you feeling the desire to escape your reality.
The ongoing trine with Saturn and Uranus is a very important alignment that we may not yet totally appreciate. For the last 7 years Uranus has been moving through Aries, and this pattern has radically changed many things in our lives. Now its alignment with Saturn offers some rest and restoration, stabilising our energy and bringing it back to a place where we can really cultivate the direction we’ve begun to move in during Uranus in Aries, and more easily move with its natural flow.
The duration of the Sun trine Chiron is relativity short in comparison to the other two planetary alignments mentioned here, however the energy of this alignment will make an impact. What we are leaning with this alignment is to feel again with our hearts. The heart attracts to it unity and connection. By aligning with the frequency of joy and openness we are able to see the value in our attraction towards that which we love. This sustains us. When we merge with our gifts and we speak from authenticity and joy, creativity is a natural outcome. Finding our place in the whole is about letting go of what we are not and being what we simply are.

Full Moon In Sagittarius Represents The Truth Seeker
June 9th 2017 – Full Moon In Sagittarius
This is a very powerful and important Full Moon! A Sagittarius Full Moon encourages us to have fun, quest for knowledge and expand our visions. A Sagittarius Full moon also represents the Truth Seeker…..and at this time in History….that is a very important energy to be out there! Sagittarius also represents the law. International Law in particular. This Sagittarius Full Moon is truth seeking and very dynamic. Sitting with the Moon is Saturn and Saturn rules the Government and responsibility on all levels. We are being asked to gather up and look at all the information (Sagittarius Moon and Gemini Sun) that we can find…..so that we can quest for the truth…..as we continue moving forward! Truth, with this Sagittarius Full Moon…is the ultimate goal! This Full Moon suggests a shift in perspective and a questing for Truth! Making this a very active…high energy… Full Moon!
This Sagittarius Full Moon is also called a Micro-Moon because it is sitting on the Lunar Apogee…. which is the farthest place from the Earth in the Moon’s orbit….making it appear as the smallest Full Moon of 2017! The point of Lunar Apogee is also (to us Astrologers) referred to as “Black Moon Lilith”. Black Moon Lilith was said to have been the first woman that God created…but she became way too powerful and was cast aside for a more subservient version (Eve)….Lilith, became very angry and became associated with the destructive feminine.
This Full Moon also encourages us to think deep and focus on our own Truth. This is important as we have been through a lot of activations and down loads over the last months and years. Leaving us with a feeling of not only “the rug being pulled out from under our feet”….but also a feeling of being surrounded with Chaos and Urgency! Things seem a little unstable, uneasy, and fluid. This is also true throughout the world (especially politically) and with the Earth herself. We are being asked to see and create “our own” big picture and focus on it. We are being asked to create our new future out of the chaos that is happening around us. Even though we may not be sure of exactly where we are headed…start moving…and Trust (Sagittarius) in your Guidance. These changes are happening in all areas of our lives. All the seeds that have been planted over the last months and years…are now sprouting…we need to decide which ones to nourish and which ones to let go of.
Full Moons are a time of releasing. It is a time of releasing the “old” that is no longer working. Go deep into yourself, your foundations, your old perceptions, your Soul….and observe what is no longer working for you….and then release it…. to make way for the new. It is a time of purging and releasing in all areas of your life. The Full Moon phase suggests that things that we are not aware of….shine bright to make themselves known…..and emotional level’s are highly activated…..similar to high tide in the Ocean.
At all Full Moons we have the Sun exactly opposite the Moon. So with this Full Moon we have the Moon in Sagittarius and the Sun in Gemini. Full Moons are about bringing the sign energy of the Moon into balance with the sign energy of the Sun. This Full Moon is about learning to balance the polarity of Sagittarius (higher knowledge, religions and philosophies, higher spiritual knowledge, the master teacher, the Truth seeker, travel, optimism and Joy!) with Gemini (communication, teaching, multitasking, youth, chatter, and writing). We are trying to balance Sagittarius’s inner nature with Gemini’s fast flowing thoughts. Sagittarius’s deep philosophical thoughts, with the mentally expressive Gemini. Sagittarians quest for higher meaning in life while Gemini’s need to gather and integrate information. Gemini is where you teach a small class and Sagittarius is where you become the master teacher. Gemini is where you write the book and Sagittarius is where you publish it. Remember that during this shift we are trying to bring Balance into all areas of our lives. Balance is extremely important now. We are being asked to move away from the chatter of Gemini…..to the more meaningful ways of presenting our truths and wisdom’s. Sagittarius is about the Truth….and the Truth Seeker….seeking Truth in this life time and from past life times. The Truth is not intellectual….Truth comes from the Heart!
Sagittarius also has a lot to do with our information and our belief systems. Do we truly believe in the belief systems that we have been caring around with us? All the different belief systems, that are active in our daily lives? Are we actually walking our talk? Speaking our truths? Now is the time to meditate on this and Listen!! It is time to manifest the changes that need to be made!
We also have the Full Sagittarius Moon sitting with Saturn! Saturn rules the Government/military/corporate America/stock market etc. Saturn is about structures and following the rules! The sun actually opposes Saturn on June 15th and it is the Earth’s closest approach to Saturn the entire year. Saturn is also the Wisdom of the Elders. With Saturn sitting with this Full Sagittarius Moon….it is telling us that we need to take on the responsibilities of the high Wisdom’s…..rather it is in the government, corporate America, or ourselves! We need to operate with integrity and respect! When you have Saturn with the Moon…it can be a time of going within….thinking things over. Saturn with the Moon can sometimes bring on a little depression…..it will be temporary as the Moon will move away from Saturn quickly. Saturn also makes us look at our limitations…..in hopes that we will strive to move far beyond them!
The Gemini Sun (part of the Full Moon) is also sitting with Ceres! Ceres is about fertility, growth, rites of passage and also the over protective Mother. With Ceres next to the Sun and opposing the Moon/Saturn….there could be issues with bonding, or with nurturing, over protecting someone or yourself.
We have Jupiter sitting stationary at this Sagittarius Full Moon! Jupiter stations an hour after the exact Full Moon! Jupiter also rules Sagittarius, meaning that their energies are very similar! When a planet is Stationary…it is a powerful concentration of energy….as it is just standing still and not moving! The Universe is making a statement here…..we need to be speaking and seeking the higher knowledge in all areas…..we need to speak our Truth, Walk our Talk….. and we need to seek/quest for the Truth in all areas…. at all times!
Remember also that the back drop of this Full Sagittarius Moon, is the ongoing and continued Cardinal Square between Pluto/Juno and Uranus/Eris/Pallas Athena. This Cardinal Square is still very powerful and with Pallas Athena and Juno being part of it…brings in relationships of all kinds and the balancing of the Sacred Feminine and the Sacred Male. Pluto continues bringing us the energy of transformation and Uranus/Eris continues to bring us the energies of constant change and chaos! This configuration continues to put us on the path of accelerated evolution and radical change! With the added energy of the Sagittarius Full Moon…..the Universe is saying that we need to transform and change…in the way in which we communicate and share our wisdoms. We need to bring in more nurturing, caring and love when we communicate, and above all…we need to speak the Truth and think with our hearts! No lies, no secrets, no out of bounds ego. We are all one…no one is better than anyone else!
Remember, even though we have a lot going on……take some time during June and July to rest some. Meditate….especially outside. Think about what you have been through over the last several years/months….time to “get your ducks in a row” and mediate on your future…. what your individual “big picture” looks like. We are preparing for the wild ride of our second Eclipse Season…which starts in August and many powerful energies that will be active though November!
Release what is no longer vibrating with you, especially in the areas of communication, truths, knowledge, your beliefs, and how you share them through various ways of communication. What areas do you now have the energy and courage to become the truth seeker in? Again mediate, connect with your guidance and Listen!
What truths are coming up for you that no longer are vibrating with the higher energies that you are now embodying? What truths do you now need to bring out into the open so they can be released for you and humanity? What is your belief system and how can you speak of it…while honoring others belief systems. Seek your Truth….Walk your Talk….Now is the time!!!!
Meditate and manifest on how to bring all areas of your life into Balance!! Especially in the areas of Relationships…..ALL Relationships!! Also meditate and manifest on ways that you can help to bring the community, your tribe, humanity and the World into a peaceful Balance!! Above all manifest…..meditate….ask for guidance……and Listen!
This is a powerful Full Moon statement from the Universe. The Universe is asking us to… Meditate….and to start nurturing the seeds that have been downloaded to each of us over these last several months….and support them as they continue to grow. Nurture with our high Spirituality, connection to Source/God/Goddess… and our Belief systems!!
Remember that this is also a time to take care of yourself. Drink lots of water, eat good food, breath, get out in nature…. as we are trying to incorporate into our human form an abundance of energies, many of which we are not that comfortable with right now. So listen to your body and rest when you need to. Remember It is easy to get riled up, as our buttons can be pushed and reactions can be fast with this Full Sagittarius Moon…..so try to slow down and think before responding……put e-mails that have triggered you into “send latter” and go back later and re-read before sending. Remember this is a lot of changeable, urgent and transformative energy for our bodies, and the Earth, to try to handle and embody. Relax, mediate, get out doors, exercise, be creative and manifest. This will help the body absorb these energies in a more peaceful and loving way. Allow your life to unfold naturally. Sit by a body of water and pay attention to your dreams. Above all manifest…..meditate….ask for guidance……and Listen! We are co-creating our own reality…..make it a beautiful one!

Full Moon in Virgo
If you're a Virgo and you're looking forward to putting the past 6 months of hell behind you, look no further because CHANGE is here.
The March 12th Full Moon falls in the earthy sign of Virgo. As the energy of this Full Moon lingers for the next two weeks, we are all going to enter into a time of self-healing.
Virgo is typically the sign associated with thinking. Deep thinking. Over thinking. Virgo thinking is often self-critical, however when channelled in the right way, Virgo thinking can be extremely enlightening.
Virgo is symbolized by the virgin. This does not mean that Virgo energy is weak, vulnerable and innocent, in fact it is the very opposite.
Virgo energy is warrior energy. It represents strength and inner power. Virgo doesn’t need a man by her side, she has the power and strength to rise up alone.
Virgo comes into her strength by tapping into that inner warrior that lives inside of the heart.
We all have Virgo energy inside of us, we all have Virgo somewhere in our natal astrology chart, so chances are we are all going to feel the feminine power and strength arising from this Full Moon.
It is time to enter into warrior mode. Gone are the days of feeling sorry for yourself or being the victim. Gone are the days of getting irritated by every challenge or setback that life has brought you so far. Gone are the days of resisting what the Universe is trying to show you.
It is time to step up. It is time to rise up and claim your power, to claim your self-worth and to find your true inner strength.
As tempting as it can be, this is not about rising up into warrior mode to head off to war.
Instead, this is about rising up by yourself and for yourself. This is about finding that inner strength so you can heal, repair, nourish and reflect in whatever way you need to.
This Virgo Full Moon is going to be reminding us of all of that, and it is going to be reminding us that our true strength and power comes from within.3
Virgo energy is also a perfect time to activate your own self healing. If there is an area of your life that needs to be healed whether it is physical, emotional or spiritual, this Full Moon will be giving you the tools to make it happen.
The Virgo Full Moon is in Full Bloom
Cleanup on aisle one! This Sunday, March 12, the Virgo full moon is in full bloom, sounding the call for a lifestyle overhaul.
As the last full moon of winter, the Virgo full moon is a pre-spring awakening, known as the full Worm Moon by Native American tribes. According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, the full Worm Moon occurs as the ground begins to soften and earthworm casts reappear, inviting the return of robins. It is also known as the Sap Moon, as it signifies the time when maple sap begins to flow from maple trees.
The Virgo full moon completes a six-month cycle that began back in September with the corresponding new moon. As the zodiac’s neat freak, Virgo is the star sign that lives for structure, order and routine. With these squeaky clean moonbeams overhead, why not make everything cleaner and greener?
Grounded earth sign Virgo sounds a wakeup call for living more mindfully, with everything from the food we put on our plates to the footprint we make on our environments. This might be the perfect weekend to watch Chasing Coral, a documentary on Netflix about the destruction of coral reefs due to climate change, or No Impact Man which follows a die-hard New Yorker and his family who attempted to live in the heart of Manhattan while making zero impact on the environment for a year.
On a more mundane level, how about giving your home a deep spring cleaning? (With eco-friendly cleaning products, naturally.) Think of how much easier you’ll breathe once you’ve decluttered your desk, annihilated the dust bunnies, paid all your bills and cleaned out your Inbox. Since Virgo is the astrological analyst, this full moon is prime time for getting your taxes done. Crunching numbers into a realistic budget can also bring peace of mind now.
Another house to get in order during the Virgo full moon? Your body: the temple that houses you here on planet Earth. Scan yourself from head to toe: Where are you feeling achy or out of alignment? Before you pop a pill for every nagging twinge, tune up your system the Virgo way, with natural healing (unless, of course, you legit need a doctor!). Flood your body with tons of H2O all weekend long. Dehydration is often the hidden culprit behind our minor pangs. A mug of warm water with lemon can restore you to a disease-busting alkaline state.
Virgo rules digestion, so remember that gut health is the key to overall well-being, as it governs your mental health and a strong immune system. Pop a daily probiotic—and see what happens if you swap out the refined sugar and white flour for dark leafy greens and lean proteins. If you can’t make it to the gym, get up for hourly stretches or walks around the block. More physical activity can do wonders for the sedentary desk jockeys out there! Instead of the bottomless refills at the coffeepot, brew a matcha latte, or try a turmeric golden milk at night. Holistic treatments like massage and acupuncture can also realign your systems. Has it been awhile since you saw your MD? Get those routine checkups on the calendar if only to quell the rumblings of your inner hypochondriac.
In case you’ve heard the false rumors that Virgo energy is boring, guess again. Ruled by speedy, communicative Mercury, our intellectual curiosity is stimulated under this lunar spell. There’s no better week to research, gather data and visual inspiration, and get to work on a DIY project—using up-cycled and salvaged materials. Give the world service with a smile, too! The Virgo full moon lights up our inner helper-healer, reminding us of the power of being generous for generosity’s sake. Giving selflessly feels better than a week at the spa, as it connects us to the power of pure, universal love. Whether we’re helping out a friend in need or volunteering at a non-profit, this full moon will beam its light on the places where our gifts are needed most.
Want to host a full moon ritual? Here are some tips for manifesting at new and full moons. And below, a few ways to maximize the potency of the Virgo full moon.
1. Don’t get stuck in analysis-paralysis.
Procrastination is the enemy of progress! Yet, there’s always a valid emotional experience going on underneath it all. Virgo’s analytical powers can help you pierce the veil. Write down (yes, Virgo loves lists) anything in your life that you’ve been putting off. What’s REALLY going on there? A few possibilities: either you’re not feeling excited about it, you don’t know where to start, or you need to ask for help. Go down the checklist item by item and see what is revealed. Write down the ONE thing that keeps stopping you from moving forward, then identify a person or resource you could turn to for help. Then, book an appointment in your own calendar to call or email that person (or heck, just pick up the phone now). Get the ball rolling again!
2. Stoke your digestive fire.
Each sign is associated with a body part and Virgo rules the lower stomach and digestive system. Chew on this: Turning up your digestive fire can help you sleep better, prevent disease and help your body use food as the fuel it is intended to be. Digestion begins in the mouth, but with our on the go lifestyles, many of us inhale our food instead of mindfully chewing it. Use those molars and incisors: they are there for a purpose. This week, try chomping each bite twenty times before you swallow. Your lunch breaks might take a little bit longer, but, hey, it’s a bonus meditative moment that will make you more productive when you return to your desk.
Another trick for helping with digestion? Lie on your left side, which compresses the C-shaped tummy and facilitates a self-massage. The advanced ritualists among us might even try going raw this weekend or doing a juice cleanse (or a soup cleanse, if the weather is still cold in your area). The Virgo full moon loves everything pure and earthy. Bring that straight to your plate and see how alive you feel. Read up food combining principles or add more fresh juice to your daily regimen. Read up on gut health, too, and learn about why the gut is being called “the second brain” by doctors and scientists alike. The key with the Virgo full moon is to repeat the chosen practice daily so that you can really feel its impact.
3. Simplify, streamline and systematize.
Virgo is an efficiency expert, and loves structures, systems and a sense of order. Where do we need to whip our lives into shape? Expect a megadose of motivation to come with the Virgo full moon. It’s not just about tucking stuff away in junk drawers, but rather, cleaning house, simplifying, and ridding ourselves of excess. The zodiac’s Virgin likes things pure, simple and sweet. What a great opportunity to lower our carbon footprints this weekend. We can apply the de-junking approach to body care, too. The full moon in Virgo brings healthy living into the spotlight and wants us to devise an empowering eating and exercise routine.
4. Start your to-do lists with a dream instead of a task.
Martin Luther King, Jr. (a Capricorn) said, “Faith is taking the first step even when you can’t see the whole staircase.” That’s a beautiful sentiment—as long as you have an idea where those invisible stairs are leading. This year, the analytical Virgo full moon falls during ethereal Pisces season, which activates our subconscious and spiritual sides. Talk about polar opposites! Unite your logical left brain and your creative right brain. Lists may sound dreary to most signs, but when you’re rooted in a greater vision, they’re simply the road map that will get you to your ultimate destination. Books and tools like Danielle LaPorte’s The Desire Map help you create goals with soul, to work backward from how you want to FEEL in your highest state, then to set intentions based on that. Once you’re steeped in that visionary vibe, doing the groundwork feels light and even exciting…because you know the universe is truly on your side.
5. Read your produce labels.
The devil is in the details, and Virgo, the sign of health, knows that all too well. How can you bring more mindfulness to your nutritional habits? Know your codes—fruit or vegetable sticker PLU codes, that is—and how to check whether the item is organic, conventionally grown or (eek!) genetically modified. Remember this: a five-digit code starting with 9 on your banana, bell pepper, etc. means it was grown organically. If it starts with a 4, it was conventionally grown, and an 8 means GMO. Dr. Frank Lipman explains the whole system simply here. The Virgo full moon reminds us: you are what you eat!
6. Try a new word every day.
Ruled by Mercury, the planet of communication and intellect, brainiac Virgo flexes some serious vocab skills. Why say “good” when you can say “superlative,” “unrivaled,” or “magnificent?” This full moon is blessing us all with the gift of gab this week, so take the challenge and wax poetic. Adopt a new word per day and use it as often as you can. You might even get your friends in on the fun. Imagine the nerdy laughs as you all find ways to weave “prescient” or “sartorial” into a sentence. Seriously. And if you’re already gifted with word-power, host a Scrabble night near the full moon and let the good times roll.
7. Get your declutter on.
Waste not, want not: that’s one of Virgo’s favorite expressions. As we mentioned earlier, it’s a great week for cleaning out those closets and donating to a meaningful charity or to a friend in need. But before you toss everything into garbage bags, stop and think: could this be used in a different way? Try an “up-cycling” project this week, which is a lot like recycling, except the object is given a brand new use. Our crafty crew of friends are masters of the up-cycle. We’ve seen adorable baby cowboy boots used as a flowerpot (bonus points from this earthy full moon for planting something), a bike wheel turned into a wall clock, a denim skirt made out of jeans with a ripped inseam. These projects don’t have to take hours on end. All it takes is a creative sweep of your environment. For ideas: check out theupcycleblog.com and readymade.com. Another great project? Making your own, eco-friendly cleaning products using ingredients like white vinegar, lemon and baking powder.
