What is the Ego? Should it Be Destroyed?
By Mateo Sol
If you’ve ever explored the transcendental field of spirituality, you would have discovered that the ego is often spoken about with contempt.
Many people carry the belief that the ego needs to be destroyed, muzzled or even killed.
But do we need to destroy the ego? What is the ego, really? And furthermore, what can you learn about your own ego? What is the Ego?
The ego is basically your identity, or who you think you are.
Your ego is usually constructed of a name, a personality, and a story. Within this personal story is a collection of memories, beliefs, impressions and sensations about who “you are,” where “you came from,” what “you’re good and bad at,” what “you’ve experienced,” and on, and on, and on, ad infinitum.
The Ego and Duality
The ego is a veil between what you think you are and what you actually are. You live under the illusion of the mind, totally unaware that you are directed by a great big load of stories! — Isira Sananda
Your ego was created, and is currently maintained, by the belief that you are “separate” from others and life itself. In other words, your ego believes that you are firmly HERE, and other people are firmly THERE. You have a body, life, and personality that is distinctly different from others. Therefore, according to the ego, you are not like other people. You are different. Or that’s what your thoughts tell you anyway.
As a result of being taught (or conditioned) to believe that you are a separate individual, you experience fear and suffering. Instead of simply experiencing life in its purity and wholeness, you filter life through your mind. You are taught to live life in duality. Duality is essentially the state of separation — it is the opposite of reality. It is the product of the mind. In duality, we essentially “split” or divide life.
Examples of duality include filtering life through the lenses of “right/wrong,” “good/bad,” “pretty/ugly,” “holy/sinful,” “love/hate” etc. As a product of living in duality, we create untold amounts of suffering for ourselves because we are no longer open to life. Instead, our lives become centered around judgment, condemnation, and fear. As a result, we alienate and destroy others who we perceive of as being “bad,” “wrong,” and “sinful” to protect our ideas of what is “right” and “holy.”
The more deeply we are entrenched in duality, the more we experience problems such as hatred, anger, depression, paranoia, anxiety, and perversion. Not only do we sever ourselves from others, but we are cut off from ourselves as well. Anything within us that we perceive as being “evil/bad/wrong/sinful” we suppress, repress and deny the existence of.
As a result of this repressed energy, our Shadow Selves grow more and more twisted, destructive and depraved. Finally, this intense suffering is expressed in our relationships and the world at large.
Our physical world is an expression of our collective internal torment.
Our lives are an expression of our inner emptiness. Simply looking at the violence, murder, poverty, greed, bigotry, mental illness and environmental degradation shows us how profoundly lost we are as a race. We are lost because we have lost touch with the truth of who we are.
The Folly of Demonizing the Ego
In light of this discovery, it is very easy to start believing that the ego is bad. In fact, some spiritual teachers teach that the ego needs to be “destroyed.” But here’s the thing: this is just another trick of the mind! I’ve heard so many people in the spiritual community condemn the ego and speak of it with such great resentment. However, the belief that our egos are “evil” or need to be “killed/destroyed” is just a reflection of the mind stuck in duality!
The ego isn’t “good” or “bad,” it simply IS. We need to realize that the ego is simply a tool. The ego exists as a biological survival mechanism. The ego also exists as a vehicle for our spiritual growth; for us to become conscious of our own strength, love, and oneness. The ego is a doorway through which we can return to our True Nature.
Why the Ego Isn’t YouYou may have heard before the expression: “the ego is an illusion.” What does this mean?
The ego is an illusion, and therefore isn’t really “you,” because it is always changing. In other words, how can anything within you that is subject to birth, change, and decay really be you?
Let’s try an experiment. Write down on a notepad or word document who “you” think you are. You can always stop reading and return back to reading this article after you’ve finished.
Take a break. Really. Do the experiment now.
Now that you’ve done the experiment, read over your words. Likely, you would have written something along the lines of, “I am Jane Doe. I’m a wife, mother, and friend. I’m a fighter, a dreamer, and a spiritual seeker. I am 38 years old, have three children and am a skilled artist.”
See this description of you? This is your main personal story; the backdrop of your life, of what you think you are.
The ego is an illusion because it is simply that: a story — a story created in the mind.
Let’s use some self-inquiry and apply these questions to your statement:
As we can see, everything that we unquestionably believe we are isn’t really us. So what really is us? What has been there all along?
What is That Presence? What has been there to witness everything that has happened in your life? What never changes? What is the most fundamental core of who we are?
Explore this question for a few moments and you’ll realize that it’s:
Consciousness is the fabric of all things. In fact, even science has shown that everything at its core is energy vibrating at different levels. In our human experience, Presence, Consciousness or Spirit manifests itself as the energy that composes every form.
It is hard to really put a word to this experience, as language is so limited. The easiest way to experience this Presence that is you, and always has been you, is through meditation. Meditation, or quieting the mind, helps you to become simply aware of your thoughts, and the space beneath those thoughts. That space is You.
Another common way humankind since the dawn of time has used to experience this Truth of Being is through psychedelic shamanic plants and brews, such as Ayahuasca, Psilocybin Mushrooms, and Peyote. Although it is helpful to take such herbs, it isn’t compulsory. These plants are simply doorways into the Universal Experience or Spirit that we are.
How to Untangle Yourself From the Web of Illusion
It can take a while to truly realize that you are not the Ego, and sometimes much more to integrate this discovery on a deep level. Discovering that everything you believed you were is false can be hard to accept. In fact, don’t be surprised if you experience a lot of resistance to this article. It’s normal.
The ego’s job is to protect itself and the belief that you are separate from other people and life itself. Experiencing the state of no-ego, or no-self, that is “enlightenment” can appear to be extremely depressing or disturbing at first. How can having no “me” or “you” really be something desirable? This is a common question.
The answer is that in order to understand, you must experience Consciousness itself. Without experiencing the Truth that you are, the spiritual search becomes purely intellectual and prone to sabotaging fears.
However, once you do experience even a single moment of Consciousness, you will discover for yourself that it is the most liberating, pure, peaceful, compassionate, expansive and loving state possible. In fact, Consciousness itself is the very embodiment of love, peace, and freedom. You are this embodiment. You are the Truth that you have been seeking for.
Untangling yourself from the web of illusion is a process that requires patience, self-discipline, and dedication. This process isn’t for trendy “spirit junkies,” it is for sincere spiritual seekers.
Here are some helpful spiritual practices that will help you reconnect with the truth of who you are:
The spiritual awakening journey is one that requires courage, radical honesty and the willingness to let go of all that you are not. What is the ego? The ego is a teacher, one that you carry with you each day. When seen in this light, the ego is the most powerful and persistent teacher we have to wake us up to the Truth that has always been here, and will always be here.

5 Unexpected Ways the Inflated Ego Enslaves, Dominates, and Fools You
Do you have an inflated ego?
Ironically we cringe at this question so much that it instantly makes us go into denial mode. “NO … I have quite a normal ego thank you,” we are prone to think. Then, we might proceed to hunt for a person in our lives that we can feel angry and self-righteous towards and start ruminating on how much we detest their inflated ego.
Funny don’t you think?
The ego denies the existence of the ego, and the ego likes to find someone else to blame, which is precisely why we continue ending up in the same depressing emotional ruts over and over again. When we refuse to acknowledge the extent to which our ego runs our lives, we fail to ever authentically grow or find deep peace in life.
But to acknowledge that you have a humongous ego is very hard. Oh yes!
It takes humility, openness and radical honesty to get to a point where you can say, “YES, I have a MASSIVE EGO, and it sucks.” It takes a lot of courage to admit that you are wrong and that you’re not as great or as righteous as you once thought. Why? Because for many people this spells D.E.A.T.H.; death of stability, death of certainty, death of confidence, death of self-esteem.
But hear me now … you don’t need to hate yourself in order to admit that you have an inflated ego! On the contrary, admitting this to yourself is one of the greatest acts of self-love possible, and it is a direct gift from the Soul to be able to admit your egotism, and yet still respect who you are on a soulful level.
5 Tactics of the Inflated Ego That Keep You AsleepWhen you are “asleep” you have not awoken to the truth of life – of your reality. When we speak of “waking up” or refer to an “awakening soul,” we are referring to a person who has tasted authenticity of being – not the lies and half-truths of man-made existence.
So have you woken up, or are you mostly asleep? Perhaps you are in the middle, and exist in a limbo between truth and lie, reality and unreality. Find out below:
1. I need anger and fear in order to enact change.I have heard this so many times – even from myself – that it is mind-boggling. Activists, in particular, suffer from this type of ego trick, believing that the only way to create real change is to approach people from a place of anger. I’ve seen and heard a lot of vegans, religious missionaries and animal right’s activists in particular use guilt, shame and fear to try and convert people to a “better way of life.” However, this often just results in ego-fueled arguments, resentment, and worst of all, denial.
The reality is that anger breeds anger. War breeds war. But love breeds love. Peace breeds peace. And love, true love in my experience, is not an inactive state of sitting in your own drool; it is active, and comes from a place of understanding.
Who would you most likely take seriously?
A person who calls you a “sinner” or a “selfish murderer” who is “unconscious, unethical, and the scum of the earth,” or someone who teaches you empathy, true understanding, and compassion for not only yourself, but for all of life?
2. I need to be “more spiritual” in order to be happier. When you think of a spiritual person, what do you picture? Perhaps you think of a yogi, or an energy healer, or a psychic. Images of crystals, chakra cleansing or meditation might arise. And while all of these things are very useful and extremely beneficial, it is not actually necessary for us to “be a spiritual person” in order to find deep, abiding joy.
Why is this the case?
Because the act of pursuing an image of spirituality takes away from the act purely experiencing Being. When we are constantly desiring and attempting to be something other than what we innately are, we create an immense dissatisfaction and rift in our lives. We constantly feel as though we are “almost there”; almost the epitome of spirituality, when all along we are chasing our tails in circles. In reality, what we have desired all along is already here beneath all the layers of our thoughts, beliefs, desires, conditionings and goals.
How can you know this for sure?
Take a moment to stop what you are doing right now. Stop your searching, stop your running, stop your resistance to whatever is happening in your life in this very moment. Allow everything to be as it is. This doesn’t mean being a pushover or doormat; it means being smart and not fighting with reality. Stopping everything is the best way to experience the innate joy that has already existed beneath everything all along.
3. I need to suffer in order to find fulfillment. This mindset is similar to the Martyr complex way of seeing life. While it is undeniable that suffering helps us to grow and learn, to think that suffering is a prerequisite to experiencing fulfillment is like thinking that you must chop off your finger in order to have a really great day.
The reality is that you don’t need to suffer to find fulfillment, although finding fulfillment is often a result of suffering. Sound like a bunch of Dr. Seuss lingo?
Often we get extremely attached to our stories of righteous suffering. Why? Because they make us feel special and entitled. However, what we neglect to realize is that the ego is running the show here: you don’t need to be a martyr to experience the Soul. You don’t need anything but the cultivation of conscious presence, now.
4. That thing/that person is responsible for my suffering. We are conditioned since birth to name, blame and shame. Essentially, pointing the finger at other people and situations for our misfortune and unhappiness is our heritage, and one we carry with immense burden.
Yes, your son might not be talking to you; yes, your partner might not be accepting your goals and dreams; yes, you might have been diagnosed with a terrible illness, but in and of themselves these people and events in your life are not responsible for your suffering. Your resistance to them is. Your desire for them to be anything other than what they are is.
Of course, this doesn’t mean giving up and letting people and situations walk all over you. It doesn’t mean not doing the best for yourself and making the very most of your life. But it does mean taking responsibility for your reactions, thoughts and feelings. It does mean accepting that your happiness is a direct reflection of your decisions.
5. I need THAT to give me THIS.
Here are some common examples:
I need lots of money to give me security. I need your love and acceptance in order to make me feel whole and complete. I need to lose this much weight in order to make me confident and sexy. I need to rebel against what they do in order to make me a better person. I need to be successful in order to feel fulfilled in life. I need to be likable in order to be acceptable.
Is this all true?
The reality is that nothing outside of yourself can genuinely give you what you can’t give yourself from the inside. This is because whatever is out of your control is subject to being destroyed or taken away from you within seconds.
Your Turn …What ways has the ego enslaved or dominated you throughout life? Perhaps you have lost touch with your Soul as a result of listening to the voice of your ego too frequently. Finally, can you provide any more examples of how the inflated ego overtakes our lives?

11 Traps Sabotaging Your Spiritual Growth
No matter what the practice or teaching, ego loves to wait in ambush to appropriate spirituality for its own survival and gain. – Chögyam Trungpa, Cutting Through Spiritual Materialism
Spiritual growth is an experience we all go through once we have experienced the spiritual awakening process. As we begin to awaken to the truth of who we are, we develop a connection to our authentic essence, higher nature or Soul.
As we progressively advance on our paths, our spiritual essence begins to blossom like a luminous flower deep in our heart. And the more we clear away the dead, gnarled and overgrown beliefs, perspectives, and emotional baggage within us, the more clearly we feel our divine essence. When we maintain our inner garden, we feel more and more love, wisdom, peace, and wholeness as our True Nature is revealed slowly to us.
Yet, like any garden, our metaphorical inner landscapes can be consumed by weeds, plagues, and forms of pollution that strangle anything beautiful we have been nurturing. Sometimes, we even sabotage the growth occurring within us ourselves, without knowing it.
What is Spiritual Growth?
Spiritual growth is the process of awakening to your true nature, purpose, and potential. When you undergo spiritual growth you experience an expansion in awareness and insight, also known as higher consciousness. All spiritual growth has one objective: to help you embody your Soul, Higher Self or Atman. Once you are able to unite with your Soul, you will experience what is understood as enlightenment, “heaven,” Oneness or moksha.
11 Traps that Sabotage Your Spiritual Growth
This isn’t a journey about becoming something. This is about unbecoming who we are not. – Adyashanti, The End of Your World
The problem with the spiritual journey is that it is often laden with traps of many kinds. These traps are not physical, but they are instead mental and are often referred to as anti-awakening forces.
As we process life primarily through the mind, we also tend to approach spirituality with the mind. The issue with this is that spirituality cannot be contained by the limitations of thought. Once spirituality is captured within a thought, it ceases to maintain its true essence and instead becomes a constricting belief or dogma. In other words, spirituality loses its alive, ever-flowing essence once it is compartmentalized within the mind.
Think about it this way: have you ever felt immense awe and wonder in the presence of something beautiful and enchanting like a sunrise? The moment you stop immersing yourself in the feeling of the sunrise, and start taking a photo of it or describing it in a text message, is the moment you are no longer truly present with the sunrise. Instead, you are filtering it through your thoughts or through a lens of some kind. The same can be said with spirituality.
The more we use the mind to approach our Soul, the further our Soul feels. But the moment we drop our thoughts and allow ourselves to purely feel our Soul, suddenly we feel at home once again. Think of it like this: when you chase the sun on the horizon thinking you will reach it, you never will, because it is an illusion. But when you stop and feel the sun’s presence shining on your skin already, you will no longer chase anything.
It is difficult for us, as mind-oriented beings, to become conscious of our thoughts, as we have been conditioned to identify with them since a young age. But once we can observe our thoughts and how they tend to sabotage our happiness, we will experience true spiritual growth.
Below I want to share with you eleven of the most common traps that we fall into on the spiritual path. I have personally experienced these pitfalls many times, and they have resulted in a lot of pain and struggle. See how many of these traps you can identify with:
1. The trap of spiritual bypassingSpiritual bypassing is the practice of using spirituality to avoid, suppress or escape from certain emotions or situations in life. Common types of spiritual bypassing include:
Read more about spiritual bypassing.
2. The trap of superiority
This manifests as the tendency to “look down” upon others who are not as “consciously advanced” or “awakened.” The trap of superiority can be seen as a subtle feeling of “being better” than others who aren’t “spiritual.” In more extreme cases, this trap can appear as the tendency to lash out at people who are still “asleep,” “blind” or “sheep” of society. This kind of reactive behavior can often be seen in people who have just “woken up” to the state of the world, yet have undergone minimal spiritual growth. We need to remember that everyone is doing the best they can at their level of consciousness. When the time comes, they will awaken too.
3. The trap of forcefully trying to wake others up
Once we have awoken out of the “matrix” it is common for us to desperately want our loved ones and fellow peers to awaken. We can see how much pain and delusion other people are in, and that riles up in us the intense desire to “show them the truth.” However, often our attempt to forcefully awaken people misfires quickly. Even though we have good intentions, our desire to “save” others causes them to backlash in ways that infuriate both them and us. The less responsive they are to our pushy attempts to “wake them up,” the more frustrated and alienated we become. Eventually, trying to force others to wake up ends up harming both ourselves and others. Not only that, but this trap generates a lot of anger and misunderstanding, which results in further ego ensnarement, sabotaging our spiritual growth. Let people wake up when they are ready.
4. The trap of wanting to help others
This trap is closely entwined with the previous trap except it is more geared towards giving others advice. There is nothing wrong with wanting to help others, as long as you respect their boundaries. But sometimes developing an expanded spiritual perspective gives the ego an opportunity to feel more “knowledgeable” than others still trapped in illusion. When unsolicited advice is given to others, the results can be disastrous (think anger, upset, offense etc.).
Wanting to help others can also be used as a way of escaping our need to help ourselves. Under the guise of being “spiritual” and compassionate, helping others can be just another form of spiritual bypassing.
5. The trap of wanting to revolutionize the world
Once we wake up to the lies and corruption present in our current societal structure, many of us want to desperately change society. We fall into the trap of thinking that freedom, honesty, and justice can be created by changing the external system. As a result, we buy into the “us versus them” and “divide and conquer” mentality that is a product of the ego’s tunnel vision. We don’t realize that we’re actually fuelling the corrupt system which depends on anger and chaos to thrive and survive. Instead of understanding that all true change comes from an internal revolution, we get caught up in the pursuit of external revolution which is fragile and transient.
6. The trap of meaninglessness
Once we experience divine and transcendent states of being in which we become One with all, we can fall into the trap of spiritual nihilism after the experience passes. In other words, once we realize, from the perspective of the Universe, that nothing we do ultimately matters because all is passing, we can fall into a depressive mindset. Using truths such as “All is an illusion,” the person who falls for this trap tends to filter life through the mind. By mentally clinging to these truths, they become beliefs that the ego uses as an excuse to paradoxically feel separate from existence.
7. The trap of avoiding everyday responsibilities
Some people get so infatuated with the spiritual path that they avoid dealing with ordinary, everyday affairs. This form of escapism can lead to leeching off others, not paying bills, evading taxes, obsessing with “living off the grid,” etc. When avoiding everyday responsibilities is worn as a badge of being consciously elevated or “more spiritual” this too is a form of egotism in disguise. Avoiding ordinary responsibilities which are not perceived as being “spiritual enough” can also be a form of distraction that the ego uses to limit spiritual growth. The more concerned and obsessed you are with living an outwardly “spiritual” looking life, the more distanced from your soulwork you become. Sometimes we need to feed the sharks to keep the calm and live balanced lives.
Remember the old Zen saying: “Before Enlightenment: chop wood, carry water; after Enlightenment: chop wood, carry water.” We need to be humble and recognize that ordinary daily life is the perfect place to spiritually grow and mature.
8. The trap of self-victimization
Soon after we experience a spiritual awakening and wake up to the insanity of the world, it is common for us to get stuck in self-victimization. We may start to perceive the world as a “prison” and other people as the “captives” or even “capturers.” The shock of awakening may send us spiraling into anxiety and paranoia. Inevitably, we may start feeling like victims
resulting in us blaming other people and the higher powers for how we feel. The spiritual trap of self-victimization can be seen a lot on social media which often tends to become a pity party for spiritual fledglings. At the end of the day, we need to see that it is actually our thoughts that cause us to suffer, not other people or situations. Once we can take self-responsibility for our perspectives and beliefs, we can become empowered once again.
9. The trap of the Savior Complex
This trap is related to the previously mentioned trap of wanting to help others. The Savior Complex is adopted by people who feel a sense of superiority to the rest of humanity. Their sense of being “different” and more “spiritually elevated” can make them feel as though they are destined to fix the world. The Savior Complex can most often be seen within the “lightworker/Starseed/healer” circles who tend to put themselves up on pedestals, believing it is their cosmic duty to “save the planet.” This perception aligns with the belief that there is something “wrong” with reality and that other people are “broken” and need to be fixed (which is an ego perspective). This perception also reinforces the ego’s sense of “specialness” and self-importance.
The Savior Complex can go one step further and evolve into a Martyr Complex. Martyrs believe they must “bear the burdens” of others. Obviously, this is an extremely unhealthy way of living which is based on Christian conditioning (think of the story of Jesus). By “carrying” other people’s pain, Martyrs bypass taking responsibility for their own happiness and enable other people’s immature behavior. Read more about the Martyr Complex.
10. The trap of attachment
After experiencing profound and expansive mystical experiences which often come after significant spiritual growth, it is common for us to attach to the experience. It can be painful to come down from these experiences and return back to usual, unenlightened reality. We can also attach to our “stories” and beliefs about spirituality. Because the mind tries to make sense of this transcendent experience, it will often latch onto various ideas as a form of control. But the more we attach to our beliefs, stories, desires, and mental interpretations, the more we suffer. We forget that everything passes, even transcendent experiences. Enlightenment isn’t a destination, it is a complete surrender; a fundamental shift in the way we approach life.
Attachment is perhaps the most common trap that sabotages our spiritual growth. On one hand, attachment to ideas helps us to grow, but ultimately, those ideas that we are unwilling to let go of end up stagnating our growth. When ideas become protection blankets rather than catalysts for our growth, there is a big problem. We need to realize that freedom cannot be experienced through the mind. Freedom is felt when we can be liberated from attachment to our thoughts.
11. The trap of relying on external answers
As we progress through our spiritual paths it is normal, and beneficial, for us to seek out external support. Reading books, attending workshops and seminars, going to retreats, practicing holistic techniques, and getting a personal guru all help us experience spiritual growth. However, after a while, it is common for us to become too dependent on external answers for our freedom and happiness. This pitfall can be seen in many spiritual seeker’s obsession and glorification of their gurus (in other words, projecting and disowning their divinity onto another).
Eventually, as we become accustomed to constantly searching outside of ourselves for answers, we forget the presence of our own Souls. We forget that our ultimate source of guidance and wisdom comes from within us, and instead, we keep chasing things outside of ourselves that we believe will “enlighten” us.
We need to stop, pause, and reflect on our spiritual journeys. Are we seeking out first-hand experience or second-hand experience given to us by others? Don’t forget to look within for your answers as well because it is by connecting with your Soulthat you will ultimately experience freedom.
In order to see through and extricate ourselves from these traps, we need to be radically honest with ourselves. We need to be willing to see that we have indeed gone astray and have fed into the ego. We will also immensely benefit from exploring our Shadow Selves and exploring our mistaken beliefs.
Don’t worry if you have fallen into any of these traps. We all become ensnared by the ego. It can be particularly difficult for us to see clearly when the ego “spiritualizes” certain beliefs and ideas. The more open, humble, and honest you are, the more you will be able to see through these tricks and liberate yourself.
Finally, don’t be afraid of the dark. Don’t be afraid of being wrong. Everything, no matter how painful, is a learning opportunity. At the end of the day, your Soul is everything you have been searching for.
If you have any extra thoughts or insights about traps that sabotage spiritual growth, please share below. I would also love to hear your own journey.
21 Signs You're Experiencing Soul Loss
“Soul loss is regarded as the most serious diagnosis and the single greatest cause of premature death and serious illness by the traditionals, and it’s not even mentioned in our Western medical textbooks.” — Deepak Chopra
In our society, there is a mysterious phenomenon occurring known as “Soul Loss” arising in all people of all ages, genders, races and backgrounds. Indigenous people have known about the occurrence of Soul Loss for millennia, and understand it as the result of an inner fragmentation caused by unawareness, a traumatic experience, or, an intense shock to the mind and body. When we experience Soul Loss, a part of our Soul – or living essence – ‘hides’ or shuts away, hindering us from expressing and experiencing our true potential and wholeness as human beings. Oftentimes entire aspects of our psyches are completely blocked out or repressed.
While for many of us Soul Loss may sound uncomfortably familiar, this experience is usually temporary, and with the proper Soul Work these lost elements of ourselves can be reintegrated into our lives.
What is Soul Loss?During my introduction to shamanism and the methods of ritualistic ‘soul retrieval‘, the basic understanding of Soul Loss that was expressed was that parts of our souls travel off into other realms, or alternate realities, sometimes being possessed by spirits. In the shamanistic perspective, when these parts of our souls are not recovered, we can’t seem to find inner completion or wholeness.
Before psychology, this explanation was the only way primal cultures could explain such a common phenomenon in order to find ways to treat it – and it was immensely effective.
Soul loss is in fact the rule rather than the exception. As individuals, unless we have become Awakened Souls we lose our soulful energy every time we identify with our egos; every time we seek to feel whole through addictions, stimulation seeking, dogmatic beliefs, conditional relationships, and workaholism.
Aside from our incapacity to feel whole, when we experience Soul Loss we begin experiencing feelings of weakness, fatigue, depression, anxiety and emptiness. We just know something is missing from our lives – but many of us struggle to discover what exactly is missing. To understand Soul Loss as a loss, or disconnection, from the most vital parts of who we are, is known in psychology as ‘dissociation‘ – a root of many mental maladies.
The Psychology Behind Soul LossOnce we recognize our souls (or consciousness) as an intensity of energy – anything that creates a reduction in this energy will result in listlessness, moroseness, and depression.
To create an imbalance within the psyche is to allow the individual parts of the personality (e.g. the shadow self, anima, animus, etc.) to make themselves independent and thus escape the control of the conscious mind.
Psychologist Carl Jung understood this process as relating to our ‘psychic libido‘. Jung proposed that our psychological personalities were composed of different ‘complexes’ (or parts of our sense of self), and the primary one of those responsible for control over all the others was our ‘ego’ which is the mental image we have of ourselves, or what we believe ourselves to be. Our conscious energy can be weakened due to one of these ‘complexes’ escaping the control of our ego and becoming autonomous, therefore leeching all of our ‘psychic libido’ energy and creating a psychological imbalance that shatters our natural wholeness.
So what causes one of our psychological ‘complexes’ to emancipate itself and become a tyrannical usurper of consciousness? Often the answer is that identifying with something harmful, or experiencing a trauma of some kind creates this phenomenon.
An extreme example might help explain better:
Imagine that a young child is molested or abused. In order to cope with the horrendous experience, the child escapes by disassociating, or detaching themselves, from the situation. In the process of protecting themselves, the child creates various alter ego’s, or entirely different personalities within themselves as a defense mechanism.
In psychology, this is treated as “multiple personality disorder” (now known as Dissociative Identity Disorder). It is easy to understand how tribal cultures would have perceived this as a loss of the Soul. But essentially, psychological disassociation is nature’s way of protecting our physical organism against intense trauma and loss by blocking these wounding situations out. In the end however, it is our responsibility to protect our spiritual organism, our soul.
But Soul Loss, or psychological disassociation, is not limited to these extreme cases and can be found in different degrees in most people. Addictions, eating disorders, identity disorders, post traumatic stress, depression, codependency, narcissism, low self-esteem, and adjustment disorders are all common causes for Soul Loss in our superficial, fast-paced, materialistic modern societies that are mostly devoid of all sense of sacredness.
A young woman who dreams of being an artist but has to live up to her parent’s expectations of being a doctor will lose a little bit of her soul, ignoring an essential part of her being. Or suppose the young woman does go ahead and follows her dream of being an artist, but deep down she still depends on her parent’s approval. She then either blames them to avoid taking responsibility for pursuing her passion, or she grows low in self-esteem because she is not accepted by them. This story might sound familiar to you.
Fortunately there are many ways of finding wholeness again. A lot of the material Luna and I write for LonerWolf is a form of ‘Soul Retrieval’, where we help you to become aware of aspects within yourself that you may have been ignoring. We do this by encouraging the development of authenticity, for self-exploration, self-love and self-transformation.
Next, you will be able to apply this knowledge of Soul Loss to yourself. Are you experiencing it?
Signs You Might Be Experiencing Soul LossThere are a variety of physical, psychological and spiritual symptoms pertaining to Soul Loss. When we experience Soul Loss – or parts of our soul ‘hiding away’ or disassociating from us – the result is a loss in soulful energy, or the very vitality of our lives. This loss of energy prevents us from living healthy, fulfilling and creative lives. Sometimes Soul Loss can last for a whole lifetime, resulting in the development of a self-destructive person who we often refer to as a “Lost Soul” in our language.
To recover these lost parts of ourselves, and to become balanced, whole and centered once again, we must first identify the symptoms of Soul Loss within us. Below you will find some of the most common symptoms:
Altered States of Entrapment: The Plant Medicine Manipulation
Over the past two years, I’ve hosted a total of four Time of Transition retreats in the Peruvian high jungle alongside my good friend Fred Clarke Alvarez. Our retreat program takes a very different approach in comparison to many other retreats that people organize and participate in. We provide an eclectic program that’s comprised of talks, workshops, and practices which take place within a small group setting. It is largely based on elements of my work, going deeper into topics I’ve been writing about – but most importantly, it delves into the embodiment process on an experiential level while simultaneously being immersed in nature, surrounded by the powerful frequencies of the Amazon high jungle (go HERE to see the program.)
Up until this point in time, we have also included a Huachuma (San Pedro Cactus) medicine journey as part of the program. I have been personally working with Huachuma on and off since 2007, and Fred has facilitated Huachuma ceremonies for over 10 years. When we both had the vision to combine our talents four years ago (Fred is also an incredibly gifted sound healer, working with ancient Peruvian instruments), we were called to facilitate a Huachuma ceremony as part of the attendee experience. We have individually walked the “medicine path” for 20 years, both of us in our own way, working with different plants (mostly ayahuasca, huachuma, and psilocybin mushrooms) as part of our individual healing/awakening process. Personally-speaking, however, working with medicine plants has never been my focus, since I don’t just follow “one” path/teaching modality, even though they have helped in my own healing/awakening process at certain life stages (most predominantly in my late 20s and early 30s).
As I have written in “Reflections on Ayahuasca, Psychedelics, Marijuana, and a critical look at the Psychedelic Movement” (Note: This article should be read in full for total context):
My personal experience with psychedelics/medicine plants in general is two-fold. On one hand they have provided incredible insight into myself and reality, but on the other hand it has also been very confusing and disturbing at times. My introduction to psychedelics happened with psilocybin mushrooms in 1996 which I used for a number of years in my mid twenties on the path of self-exploration and healing. These experiences have also led me to bodywork, yoga, and qi gong, which I’ve been practicing ever since.
These were also emotional heavy times of confronting the shadow with periods of depression, despair, suicidal tendencies, and anger as my shadow was coming to light. Most of it was suppressed emotional states from past experiences, mostly childhood, confronting my shame, guilt and sadness from childhood wounding. However, looking back, I also didn’t have the context and knowledge to integrate these medicine plant/psychedelic induced experiences, especially from a psychological perspective. I stopped doing any psychedelics/medicine plants for many years and focused more on integrating what had come up through deeper self-work, learning about psychology, integrating psychotherapy and using bodywork, yoga, dance, breath work and qi gong to get in touch with my emotional body through these body-mind modalities.
I’ve also realized that using these substances can become another buffer and avoidance. Looking back at my experiences, I had to acknowledge that I was over-estimating myself and lying to myself about my healing process on some level. Just like many other people I got hooked on the “peak experience” and avoided deeper psychotherapeutic and sincere self-work without the use of these substances.
In addition, given the issues with medicine plants that can be seen in light of the hyperdimensional matrix agenda (and the occult forces acting on and working through humans), Fred and I always took a lot of care and preparation before holding any ceremony. We both still saw – and experienced – the positive benefits of working with Huachuma within the right framework and setting. As a result, many people at our retreats had amazing healing moments and breakthroughs during these ceremonies. However, over the past year, we felt a shift occurring with regards to this entire paradigm. Both of us had already stopped working with ayahuasca in 2013 – out of all the medicine plants, this power plant is the most intense “journey” to traverse (in my experience).
More and more abuse of ‘aya’ by “shamans” has surfaced over the years – scam artists (and worse) who have taken advantage of the ayahuasca hype/popularity and tourism boom in order to manipulate vulnerable individuals (my aforementioned article – “Reflections on Ayahuasca, Psychedelics, Marijuana, and a critical look at the Psychedelic Movement” – describes an experience in Peru that revealed a lot to me about this disturbing trend). However, while I had stopped working with ayahuasca, I still saw and experienced the positive potential of other medicine plants, despite the growing distortions and abuse within various cultural and spiritual ‘scenes’.
Fred and I have also felt (and seen) that many people tend to focus too much on medicine plants as an “end in itself”, without engaging in the sincere self-work (psychologically, esoterically and spiritually) and embodiment practices that have always been the primary focus of our retreat. People tend to give these plants too much power, be it through “worshipping” them (“the plant spirit told me”) and getting very attached to the “experience”/trip, or through accusing the “plant guides” of being misleading/manipulative if things didn’t go as they had envisioned beforehand, which ties into the victim/blame trap.
After a period of deeper reflection and contemplation, Fred Clarke Alvarez and I have decided not to work with Huachuma anymore at our retreat. As mentioned, this is a decision and realization that has crystalized very clearly over the past year. The work we do in the jungle is already powerful enough without any medicine plant involvement, and we want to focus more on deep embodiment programs and other practices we have developed, including some new techniques we will implement. I’ve also come to the realization recently (via inner experience) that medicine plants can actually interfere with the embodiment process, becoming an obstacle on the path towards truly anchoring higher consciousness frequencies, even though they can be helpful for some people at a certain stage of awakening.
The Times…They Are ChangingHowever, these are very different times we find ourselves in comparison to the recent past. Much has changed – the whole “medicine”world” is “tainted”, with lots of abuse and interferences taking place, especially since it all has become so popular and hyped. I’ve received many messages from people having had similar experiences and concerns lately, which confirm the decision we made regarding the retreat program. There are too many issues with these power plants during this time and age of upheaval, especially in regards to the energies we are currently infused with. It’s imperative to embody the higher frequencies and activate our original blueprint/DNA – our inner organic body-technology – without any external agent/substance. Personally, I don’t feel drawn to work with any medicine plants anymore at all. It’s an embodied decision based on experience, not an intellectual one, nor a reactive choice based on fear. I’ve realized that the more one uses power plants (especially to an excessive extent), the less one is able to anchor higher conscious frequencies and reconnect dormant DNA circuits naturally and permanently.
Moreover, these chemical compounds can also induce counterfeit/fake experiences of “bliss” and “enlightenment”, where we can even fool ourselves into believing that we have “healed” a particular issue. I’ve had an interesting discussion about this particular topic with a friend who has worked intensely with ayahuasca for many years. During the height of her usage, she thought she had healed many core issues (childhood wounding/trauma), since “the medicine” revealed this healing to her so clearly, and she had felt so much better after each ceremony.
However, now that a few years have passed, the same stuff keeps coming up again, as if it has never been truly processed in the first place. I have experienced the same ‘false dawn syndrome’ when I was deeply immersed in working with medicine plants 15 years ago. It relates to what I mentioned above (from the article): I had to acknowledge that I was over-estimating myself and lying to myself about my healing process on some level. I also “thought” and even initially “felt” that these plants helped me to heal childhood wounding/trauma, but it all came back around again with a vengeance many years later. It was only through sober, difficult internal work (on all levels: psychologically, emotionally, spiritually) that I was empowered enough to fully let go and heal these “issues”, thereby genuinely reconnecting to my “true” self in the process of soul integration (embodiment).
Medicine plants are not a magic pill that miraculously heal all wounding and trauma, even though they can be of assistance in revealing what needs to be healed and processed (and can also be beneficial when dealing with intense addiction issues). The deception – or rather, the misperception – my friend and I (and many others) have realized in respect to ‘plant therapy’ is similar to that which arises when one “intellectually” knows (or even “feels”) their issues, but has failed to work through them on an embodied level. My friend had an interesting insight about this point: looking back, she felt that, during her ayahuasca ceremonies, the wounds opened up and “projected” all of her “stuff” and shadow aspects into her awareness. That experience – combined with the euphoria/bliss/ecstasy of getting “high” (based on the medicine/drug induced DMT rush) – can transmit the idea that a deep healing has occurred…a perception that can last for weeks or even months. Hence, many people keep going back to work with medicine plants when they feel “stuff” resurfacing, in order to have that “peak” experience again and again.
This article – Whoring the Goddess – Ayahuasca takes her revenge – also offers some valuable insight into the repercussions associated with the abusive/addictive “miasma” that has increasingly-coated the vibrational field of ayahuasca.
Some people also tend to “pride” themselves on having “completed” 30, 50, 80 or more ayahuasca ceremonies. That’s almost an “insane” level of dependence, and it ties into the “spiritual bypassing” phenomenon: getting hooked on the experience while lying to themselves about why they keep taking it (and what they are taking on-board energetically as a result).
A curanderos I worked with said that if you do it right – with the right preparation (which is not just diet-connected, but also relates to having done a good amount of sincere self-work as a foundation), the right context and setting, and the right follow-up to integrate it all (not just days, but months and even years) – you only “need” a few ceremonies, one or two at most. He also said that in recent times there has been a “reversal” in the medicine dynamic – it has turned from people using the plants to “the plants using them”, creating a very unhelpful co-dependency. I want to stress that, while there may be an opportunity to use these plants consciously as an opening – a “tool”, and only a few times at that – and then continue to do the work without them, it’s also the case that taking medicine plants is not at all necessary (in general) on the path towards awakening and wholeness.
Also, traditionally speaking, even before the custom was corrupted by mass consumption trends (to say nothing of the fact that many people don’t even question the traditions themselves, which ties into the trap of blindly romanticizing indigenous cultures), not everyone was allowed to participate in ceremony with only a few people attending. Participating with a group of more than 10 people is already troublesome (based upon my experiences), let alone 60 or 100. A good friend of mine who was a medicine woman (she passed away a few years ago) shared with me an experience she had when she was assisting a well known shaman (who owns an ayahuasca center) in the Sacred Valley of Peru during an ayahuasca ceremony with about 30 participants. The “shaman” was just sitting there, singing his songs and playing guitar – in the meantime, people were heavily processing.
My friend was very sensitive to energies, and also possessed clairvoyant abilities; while people were purging, moaning and screaming, she saw one dark shadow/entity coming out of one individual and jumping right into the person next to them, finding a new host/vehicle to ‘infect’ . The shaman was not aware of this phenomenon at all, and didn’t give anyone a single minute of personal attention. Such indifferent displays are not an uncommon occurrence, especially in large group settings where people don’t know each other (including the shaman), having only just met right before the ceremony. In such reckless circumstances, you never know what you open yourself up to, and how the collective energies will intermingle in a large group setting like that.
In the past one needed to earn the “right” to participate – an initiation in and of itself – and it was also always clear to the community that it was not for everyone. The ceremonies were limited to members of the community/tribe who not only already knew each other but even grew up together. In many cases, these plants were restricted to the medicine men/women only, or were used strictly for dealing with extreme cases of disease/entrapment. To add to the insanity and corruption of modern-day manipulations, “shamans” now offer Ayahuasca and Huachauma – and other psycho-active plants (or toad-extracted compounds) – back to back, with maybe just a one day “break” in between each sitting, if at all. Mixing psychoactive plant spirits like that is a big no-no, which any true shaman knows about. But as Fred has witnessed as a born-and-raised Peruvian, nowadays you have these medicine plant retreats that are like “psychedelic candy stores”, where the “spirits” are passed around without discernment to anyone who joins…especially because they know that “gringos” like the visual “fireworks”.
“Psychedelic substances like ayahuasca create a state of hypersuggestibility in which persons are very open to being influenced by others. Many traditional cultures have utilized this condition to inculcate cultural values and behaviors in young people as they receive initiation into adulthood. In the West, countercultural values can be inculcated in young people when using these psychedelics, especially when using them in an antinomian [spiritually-released from the obligation of observing moral laws] context.”
– Marlene Dobkin de Rios
The Neo-Shamanism PsyOp that is dominant today has distorted what Shamanism is truly about, mutating the tradition into a hyped attraction where all you have to pay is some money to have THE spiritual experience. The sales pitch – that these plants are the best route for achieving a so-called ‘accessing of higher realities’ – also tends to distract people from what deeper spiritual and esoteric work is all about, and even gives one the illusion that partaking in the brew means that one has “awoken”. It relates to being distracted by the ‘mysticism of phenomena’.
It is curious to see how much these false prophets, magicians and ‘christs’ impressed themselves on the imagination of the men and even more of the women of the past. It is the same today.
For there is a type of human being who declines all moral responsibility for himself or for those to whom he is in duty bound. One comes across this type quite often, always trying to find someone else to shoulder his responsibilities as long as this someone else possesses some kind of authority, earned or otherwise.
These people are open to any form of hypnotic suggestion and practically ask to be hypnotized. They are of good faith, but they search for the ‘marvelous’ because they are too weak or too lazy to undertake esoteric work successfully.
And the ‘wolves’ devour them finding justification in the fact that they are only the ‘scourings of humanity.’ But this is not true; for ‘scourings’ who are converted can become key figures on the esoteric chess-board. Mental apathy and emotional inertia are responsible for tipping man down the slope of least resistance even when armed with the best intentions, especially if he justifies himself for his human frailties by finding them normal, particularly on the sexual plane.”
– Boris Mouravieff, Gnosis
Many people don’t know that psychedelic medicine plants were not always a part of many ancient shamanic practices, but were introduced at later stages of a culture’s history; nowadays, shamanism seems to be automatically equated with ayahuasca/medicine plants, which is by design:
“The phenomenology of the trance underwent many changes and corruptions, due in large part to confusion as to the precise nature of ecstasy. Concerning the original shamanic experience, narcotics are only a vulgar substitute for “pure” trance. The use of intoxicants is a recent innovation and points to a decadence in shamanic technique.
Narcotic intoxication is called on to provide an imitation of a state that the shaman is no longer capable of attaining otherwise. Decadence or vulgarization of a mystical technique – in ancient and modern India, and indeed all through the East, we constantly find this strange mixture of “difficult ways” and “easy ways” of realizing mystical ecstasy or some other decisive experience.”
– Mircea Eliade, Shamanism: Archaic Techniques of Ecstasy
The hype surrounding plant medicine tourism these days also shows itself whenever I mention to someone that I host retreats in Peru (without mentioning anything about ceremonies). Literally every single time, without exception, the person replies with “Ah, ayahuasca!”. I then have to explain to that person that our work is not focused on medicine plants, nor do we work with ayahuasca itself. Another reason we stopped working with huachuma is because we don’t want to attract people who just sign up because they “always wanted to go to Peru to participate in a medicine ceremony” (I lost count of how often I received this kind of message).
That’s not what our work is about…..even with the Huachuma ceremony as part of the program, it was just one day out of nine in total, and we made it clear that it was not the main purpose of the work we do. I also see more and more retreat promoters offering medicine plants as part of a “marketing strategy” to take advantage of the “peak experience” popularity/hype and attract more participants. This is especially the case in Peru – the plant craze is rampant all across the country, and it’s not a pretty picture, particularly in the “Sacred Valley”. A LOT has changed since I was there for the first time 12 years ago.
“It is probably no accident that the society which most consistently encouraged the use of these substances, India, produced one of the sickest social orders ever created by mankind, in which thinking men spent their time lost in the Buddha position under the influence of drugs exploring consciousness, while poverty, disease, social discrimination, and superstition reached their highest and most organised form in all history.”
– Professor David McClelland
My decision to discontinue any association with sobriety-obliterating plants/psychedelics is a reflection of my inner embodiment process. As mentioned previously, I’ve realized that using them has become not only an obstacle to the awaking process involved in soul individualization, but it’s also a liability (on numerous other levels) that I refuse to expose myself to anymore. Nor does this entire ‘frequency’ of plant ceremonies feel in alignment with the facilitating work that Fred and I do – we’ve reached an intuitive “acceptance” of this chapter being closed as a natural result of our own process and work…a shared journey which remains ever-changing with every new lesson learned (and subsequent wisdom gained). I’ll stress again (as followers of my writing and videos already know) that I don’t just stick to “one thing” – nor is my work based on a single modality/teaching. I’m an endlessly-open work in process (as is everyone else) within the context of soul evolution and the process of awakening.
Occult Hostile Entities and the Hyperdimensional MatrixHowever, the bigger issue with medicine work (one that ties into all the aforementioned distortions) is related to the “topic of all topics” – the hyperdimensional matrix control system. This is a very misunderstood or ignored topic that is oftentimes ridiculed or laughed off as “sci-fi nonsense”. Occult hostile forces have “hijacked” the “medicine world” in ways most people are not aware of – and given the “portal-opening” chemistry involved between human physiology and plant biology, that’s no surprise.
During this time and age of accelerated changes both within and without, there is an occult (hidden) spiritual war of dark versus light taking place “behind the veil”, acting THROUGH us… and it is intensifying. The dualistic matrix is stuck on overdrive, trying to lock as many humans as possible into a frequency prison so as to secure their “food” supply (and to counteract the awakening process of many individuals) while, at the same time, the Divine Force is also attempting to anchor itself to conduits of benevolent intent.
Opening oneself up – forcefully, I might add – to the invisible realms via external substances has the potential to create an opening (gateways) for entities to come through and parasitically attach themselves to the host/’beacon’. This danger has always been there with any kind of ritual/thought-loop, but it is clearly increasing with the global surge in neurology-altering indulgences. Basically, hyperdimensional entities are taking advantage of the increasing popularity of medicine plants (in particular ayahuasca) with the aim to “tag” more people and take over the human body vehicle via “soul snatching”. I recently came across this quote by Lisa Renee, which confirms what Fred and I have realized (and seen building up within the ‘scene’), especially over the past year:
“Ayahuasca, other ceremonial shamanic plants and psychedelic drugs are high risk behaviors that invite Attachments, Addiction Webbing and Possession for human beings on the planet during the Ascension Cycle at this time.
Ayahuasca plant spirit has been hijacked by many of the dark avatars and the consortium of NAA (Negative Alien Agenda) entities (occult hostile forces of the hyperdimensional matrix) that are on this planet during the Ascension Cycle looking to harvest Soul bodies and the possibility to take over the physical body. It is designed to interfere with true spiritual communication links and shut off the neurological communication functions between the persons consciousness and their higher spirit. It will install its own software programs to run the body, and brain in the autonomic functions of the Central Nervous System. It is usually an astral enlightenment program to trick the person into believing their artificially induced spiritual and altered consciousness state is real.
The Ayahuasca plant is connected to a massive spirit, that has grown in size from many people being falsely lead on this path and taking it at high quantities during this time. The design of this plant ceremony in most common cases, is that the spirit of the plant is manipulated by negative forces that want the original consciousness of the person taking the drug to leave the body and/or change Timelines.
The goal for the Imposter Spirit that want to take over the human body either in the current time, or in the future timelines, use the Ayahuasca plant to act as its conduit and dark portal opening to allow access into the inner spiritual sanctum of that person.”
– Lisa Renee, Energetic Synthesis
It is important to keep in mind that Lisa Renee is talking about “this time”, ie., a reference to the increasing intensification of energies that have arisen through desperate attempts by the occult matrix overlords to keep humanity in its frequency prison – which also includes the imitation/hijacking of “enlightening” experiences. All this implies (on the reader’s part) an understanding of the hyperdimensional matrix, in particular how negative entities can most often appear as benevolent forces in order to create “traps of agreement”. I feel there is a time and place wherein these plants can help as “tools” (as I have experienced myself) for shedding unhelpful patterns and healing traumas/addictions, but as with any external tool, it needs to be laid aside at some point by anyone who is sincerely engaged in the process of soul integration (embodiment). The process of awakening is one that requires avoidance of becoming attached to any single “path” and external catalysts.
This truth will be a particularly-challenging one to accept for people who have built their entire lives around medicine plants and/or who are very identified with them, especially when their “career” depends on the continued popularity and broad acceptance of neo-shamanistic rituals involving these substances.
Hence, triggers around this topic are inevitable, as I’ve already seen in some of the reactions when I posted the above quote by Lisa Renee on Facebook. Most often, these people have no real understanding of both the hyperdimensional matrix and the NAA which Lisa mentions, but they simply react mechanically, without understanding the context, and as a result hurl assumptions, fallacies, projections and even ad hominem attacks at the content. Those who accuse me of contradicting my previously-stated views on medicine plants while I engage in “fear mongering” have clearly never read my work in depth (hence, they usually take things out of context). And as stated several times already, I keep learning and growing as I go along, since seeking truth is a endless process – this truth also implies that there are times where I can (and will) change my viewpoint of things, based on internal experience in combination with research, resulting in new understandings and realizations. It wouldn’t really speak well for myself and my work if I’d still have the same stance on everything that I held 15 (or even five!) years ago. Also, I’m not here to tell anyone what they should or shouldn’t do…to each their own. Do what you feel is right for you, and live as you wish. But be aware of the dangers whilst in the process of seeking out answers, in particular when working with ayahuasca.
“The number one issue I see with people who have used ayahuasca is the infiltration of entities in their luminous energy field. In fact in my experience I have met very few people who have used ayahuasca who does not have entities attached to and/or influencing their luminous body. I am not implying ayahuasca usage was the sole source, primary source, or even a source, of these entities. As mentioned below, a great many people are (usually unknowingly) contending with the effects of psychic intrusion and attachments even if they’ve never used psychoactive plants. However, it’s worth pointing out, there are a noteworthy number of situations where I have been aware that a significant degree of the psychic intrusion the people I have met were experiencing was directly linked to their use of ayahuasca….
A lack of awareness around entities and the ways in which they relate with and affect Man is one aspect of what makes drinking ayahuasca a potentially detrimental experience. It’s one aspect of what lurks in ayahuasca’s shadow. My previous partner (an exceptionally talented Shamanic Energy Healer) has worked on significant numbers of clients who are dealing with the negative after-affects of their ayahuasca journeys. The #1 issue they face is entities in their luminous energy system. The consequences of such intrusion range widely. Insomnia, paranoia, emotional outburst, mood swings, depression, physical illness, and more….
Most of the people I’ve met who have come out of an ayahuasca ceremony with one or more newly acquired entities in their field are not at all aware of what they have picked up. At the most they may feel a little “off” but then put that down to being an aspect of their healing or adjustment process because of the “amazing ceremony” they just went through. In reality they have a hitch-hiker soon to become parasite.”
– Jonathan Evatt, The Dark Side of Ayahuasca
Ayahuasca Entity Possession – A Case StudyA year or so ago, I was working with someone who was dealing with an entity he took on after an ayahuasca ceremony. It’s the most severe type of possession (not merely an entity attachment situation) I have ever seen with a client. The entity literally took control of his body. As I was working/processing with him via Skype, the entity was interfering with our session, putting him into a spasm, choking him, etc.. This usually intensified when his girlfriend (who was present with him) and I were in the process of empowering him, and I was providing him with tools to work with and telling him that the entity had no power over him.
He had been dealing with this entity possession for about six months, and it was basically destroying his life. The entity had made him almost starve to death at one point because “it” told him that avoiding eating would be good for him. As a result, he had to be hospitalized after becoming extremely weak and losing way too much weight. He also had to get stomach surgery, since his body wouldn’t even accept/absorb food anymore. After his stay at the hospital, the doctors tried to put him on strong psychiatric drugs because they had diagnosed him as mentally insane (both psychotic and schizophrenic). They even tried to institutionalize him and put him into a psychiatric hospital. There had also been suicide attempts, triggered by the entity.
Thankfully, because of the strong support of his girlfriend (a true warrior woman), he rejected it all, and they fled to Mexico, looking for alternative help (because he was NOT crazy or insane, despite the labels that modern psychiatry tried to affix to him). Putting him on drugs and into a mental institution would have been the end of him. The entity constantly injected thought loops into him, telling him that he’s just a monkey on strings and had no personal power, and that “it” could do what it wanted with him. Sometimes, the entity spoke through him (and it was clear during those moments that it was not “him” speaking). It kept draining his life force and feeding off of all the fear and anxiety it instilled in him, even using his own body to punch himself, etc. – and that is just a few insights into what he was dealing with…there is way more I cannot share for privacy reasons. After he and his girlfriend came across my article “Reflections on Ayahuasca, Psychedelics, Marijuana, and a critical look at the Psychedelic Movement” they contacted me, because the article helped to put his experience into context and he felt relieved.
After establishing a connection with him, we both determined that he had taken on the entity at an ayahuasca ceremony that was held by a well-known shaman at a well-known ayahuasca center (within that “community”) in Iquitos, which is even recommended by a well-known “leader” in the ayahuasca scene/psychedelic movement. In fact, he found out about this shaman through a website where this popular ayahuasca advocate spoke highly about him. The way he took on the entity was a perfect example of a “trap of agreement” [key concept!] scenario, wherein this entity appeared in his ayahuasca vision/experience as a “spirit guide” or “angel”. It wasn’t threatening at all, and he innocently/naively invited it in.
There are more disturbing things surrounding this incident, especially with regards to the people involved and the people who run this ayahuasca center (including alcohol abuse by the “shaman”) which showed strong signs of dark shamanism at work. It seems very likely that he got “entity-tagged” by the shaman in order to keep him “sick” so that he would come back for more “treatments”. This is no different than a western doctor keeping his patients sick or addicted to pharmaceuticals so that they become dependent upon “scripts” for Big Pharma products. There are many tales of jungle doctors making such arrangements with hyperdimensional forces into order to obtain more worldly power and influence.
“Those of us who are conscious in the metaphysical realms are able to learn how to engage in psychic warfare. The common name for this is Black Magic or Sorcery. One tool available to the sorcerer is the psychic dart or psychic poison arrows. These darts can be utilised to carry mal-intent, or to carry toxic energy into the target’s luminous energy field.
When I was in Cuzco for a few weeks I met a German woman who lived in Old Cuzco. She trained as a traditional psychotherapist in Germany. She also trained with the Q’ero people in the remote regions of the Andes. One of the reasons she was living in Cuzco was to help “Westerners” who were “damaged” or deranged by their ayahuasca experiences. She told me about two-faced Shamans. She said that many of the ayahuasca shamans are two-faced, meaning they have the face of the beneficent healer on the one side, and the face of malevolence on the other side.
She told me about a few of the many tactics they employ for their own gain. One was that of a dart of intent. She said it is not at all uncommon for many of the Ayahuasqueros to place a dart into the luminous body of someone they are leading in ceremony. The dart is placed with the intent to influence that person to go back to their home country and tell many people about the Ayahuasquero, even to organise groups to come and work with the Ayahuasquero. The
Ayahuasquero does this for his own benefit, to get more paying “clients”. She told me many other stories about the shadow side of the ayahuasca trade in Peru. She said that of the hundreds of Ayahuasquero she has come into contact with, the vast majority are two-faced. That statement certainly seems to parallel Juan’s comment that most of the Ayahuasquero he has worked with in ceremony employ the assistance of demonic beings. I suspect the motivation for such things goes hand-in-hand. The German doctor had many stories about people who were rather messed up, confused, deranged, and mentally unstable as a result of their work with ayahuasca.”
– Jonathan Evatt, The Dark Side of Ayahuasca
With the help of his girlfriend I was able to get him back into his body, giving him some tools to work with (in relation to how to communicate to the entity, not giving in to the fear tactics and thought injections), and most importantly, empowering him. His girlfriend recorded the Skype session and sent it to his family. It helped them to open up to this topic and move past their perception of him as being “psychotic”. The couple flew back home to Canada, and he has received the support of his family without the threat of getting institutionalized.
At that point, he began trying a lot of “modalities” that didn’t do anything, including a Holographic Kinetics session (which is a good modality for clearing entities, generally speaking) that didn’t help…in fact, the HK practitioner – who I’ve come to learn doesn’t follow many of the established practices for this type of healing – couldn’t finish the session, since this case was way “out of her league”, so to speak (keep in mind that this is not just an average case of an entity attachment, but a demonic draconian possession.) This kind of ‘abdication of care’ is also due to a lack of experience (and sometimes, the resourcefulness) on the part of the facilitator, and it also depends on their level of being/awareness – nothing to do with the integrity of the modality itself. Just “learning” a modality at a week-long course is not enough. This level of parasitic takeover was also something that could not be removed with one session. I was working with him for about a month, and the therapy involved many hours over Skype. What I shared here is only a fraction of his story. But help was on the way, and we found someone who could assist him.
I got my brother Fred Clarke Alvarez involved, as he is very aware of many such cases occurring in Peru (and basically all over the world wherever ayahuasca is “served” these days), which many people have no idea about). Usually, these kinds of cases are being suppressed, and they happen far more often than people are aware of. Obviously, there is only so much I was able to do with Skype calls, and he needed hands-on help by a qualified and experienced practitioner who understands what is really going on. Our direct in-person sessions were the tipping point in his journey back to personal sovereignty.
I’ve recently talked to him – he’s doing much better, and he’s able to have a normal life again, but there is still work needed for full re-integration. Once he has healed himself fully, he will share his story in depth; potentially even writing a book about the process. This is his initiation right now. What is important to point out is that during the entire healing journey, he didn’t fall into the victim/blame trap, but instead took full responsibility for what had happened to him, owning up to his own blindspots, wounds and shortcomings that got him into the situation (as I was able to provide mirroring as well in that regard). That attitude/mind-state (of not getting caught in the victim/blame spiral) empowered him and helped him to heal, for entities feed off of the shame/regret/anger of these particular emotional frequency-projections, and want us to become stuck within them. All there is are lessons, constantly.
High SensitivityI have also noticed that certain people (myself included) are – or have become – way too sensitive to medicine plant/psychedelic induced states of consciousness (including cannabis). It can push the astral body of a person beyond its ‘bandwidth’ limits, which can actually damage the aura, create cracks in the energy body, and leave one vulnerable to entity attachments/interferences – all of which I have experienced myself, having learned the hard way. That is one of the reasons why I focus so much on grounding and embodiment practices, in order to fully anchor the soul into the avatar-body. Most people are out of touch with their bodies to begin with, and live mostly confined to a head-isolated existence.
Furthermore, wanderers, renegades, or star seeds/beings (individuals whose souls have incarnated from a higher density – fourth or sixth density – into our third density with a specific mission to accomplish in order to assist humanity during this Time of Transition) usually already have a hard time with regards to managing life within this realm. Many of them struggle to accept (and be in) this body to begin with. They are the “system busters”, challenging the status quo, and don’t fit in with most of humanity. Due to entering the lower density of physical life, they have forgotten that it was their conscious choice to do so in order to perform certain tasks (according to a mission profile). Their memory from the “ancient home” is buried deep within them, and requires awakening. This purpose is an ongoing discovery that depends on conscious self-development and gaining higher Knowledge – I’ve written in in depth about this topic here: “Wanderers, Purpose, and Esoteric Work in this Time of Transition”. This essay also addresses the New Age deception of the wanderer concept (and related ego-traps).
Wanderers are not only subject (as is everyone else) to hyperdimensional manipulation in this Matrix Control System, but they tend to be the PRIMARY targets of the occult hostile 4D STS forces, because their mission obviously interferes with the plans of the hidden controllers of this world. Hence, these “star beings” are much more vulnerable when placed within artificially-induced states of higher consciousness via external substances. Having said that, in the past, some of my experiences with psychedelics and medicine plants have helped me to “remember” why I chose to be here, and seemed to have activated something deep within me, like a positive trigger. So there is a paradox in all of this as well.
However, as mentioned before, I strongly feel that the times have changed. The veil is getting thinner, as the different realms breach into each other, creating more openings and portals for occult hostile forces to leak through. Working with medicine plants in this day and age is very different when compared to a few years ago. We are living in very different times, energetically speaking, and everything is intensifying exponentially.
I also want to acknowledge that for some people, there may still be some benefits to working with medicine plants in the right context, set and setting. In the end, it’s a personal choice, and as I said before, I’m not here to tell anyone what they should or shouldn’t be doing. You need to decide for yourself. However, rest assured that you do not need any “medicine plants” to heal or “wake up”, so don’t believe the hype.
For me personally, in this day and age, as the energies are intensifying, the risks of working with these psychoactive plants far outweigh the benefits, hence I’m stepping away from the “medicine path”. My recent inner experiences have also clearly shown me that that using medicine plants is becoming an obstacle in my personal process of soul integration and awakening, regardless of any possible entity interference “side effects”. For me, the focus has shifted towards doing the work of naturally anchoring to higher consciousness frequencies via the embodiment process and reconnecting with my inner body-technology (DNA activation) without any external substance/catalyst or “medicine”.
Misperceptions about Entity Attachments and how to deal with Occult AttacksFor the record, I’m not saying that ingesting medicine plants will automatically result in entity interference/attachments. To add another paradox, sometimes the right use of medicine plants in the right set and setting can even assist in detaching an entity from its host (as Fred and I have witnessed). However, everyone is subjected to these interferences on a daily basis, with or without medicine plants/psychedelics, as we are all under the influence of higher realm occult forces. As I’ve written about in several other essays, as long as we are not fully embodied (soul integration) while establishing zero-point non-reactive consciousness – as long as we have not healed our wounds, trauma, conditioning, and blind spots (which we ALL have to varying degrees) – we are being interfered with (and manipulated) in ways that most of us have no awareness of. This not about fear-mongering, either, but simply reflects the reality of the universe (seen and unseen) that we live in.
One of the questions I’m being asked a lot – which relates to occult hostile attacks and entity attachments – is how to deal with them. I have noticed that many people (who are aware of the hyperdimensional matrix and are dealing with these attacks – including clients I work with) tend to give these occult forces way more power than they actually have.
This can also result in unnecessary feelings of fear and paranoia (including victim/blame consciousness), which – ironically – these forces aim to instill in the seeker, for it creates the frequency they feed off of, and widens the entry point (like a crack in in the energetic armor of the aura).
Many people also desperately look for someone else to remove an entity and clear them from any occult interference. It’s a topic I have addressed before:
One of the assumptions I hear most people make is that someone else just needs to remove their entity attachment or etheric implant and then all is fine and good. That is not the case. Removing an entity is not enough, for it/they will come back ten-fold (via attachment or interference) if the “entry point” is not healed/closed. A metaphor might be when you get surgery and remove a tumor – post-operation, you still have to take care of the wound (and obviously work with a surgeon who knows what he/she is doing, i.e. be discerning about the many sketchy “healers” out there) so it doesn’t result in infection; you also have to look at lifestyle changes so that the tumor/cancer doesn’t grow back.
It’s a holistic approach on an energetic level, and much depends on the client taking responsibility for the healing process, and not falling into victim consciousness or “blaming entities”, which I tend to see a lot of in people I discuss these topics with; at the end of the day, it’s about you stepping into your own embodied warrior power and sovereign self, and firmly and steadily ejecting/rejecting the entity interference yourself. That is more powerful than someone else doing it for you.
– from TIMELINE-REALITY SPLIT, FREQUENCY VIBRATION, AND THE HIDDEN FORCES OF LIFE
This subject also relates to the Trap of Paranoia and Attachment to Experiences. From another essay I wrote:
I see more and more people becoming aware of the hyperdimensional matrix forces and how they might possibly be interfering with their own lives, working through them or through others close to them. This is encouraging to witness, for awareness and education about this topic helps many people to heal and work through their tribulations. At the same time, I also see people getting caught up in paranoia mode – or the victim/blame complex kicks in. Oftentimes, I also notice (in some people I work with) that they are actually not dealing with entity interference, but with their own thought projections (based on fear/paranoia) that have taken on a “life” of their own and have become “entities”, so to speak, but are not directly-related to the occult hostile forces interjecting from a different realm.
Sometimes people can also get very attached to their experiences and “story” on an unconscious level, while at the same time wanting to heal and move on (via a conscious healing process). This unconscious attachment and inner contradiction results in an inability to fully let go and heal, as the ego actually feeds off of the story/experience by strongly identifying with it. Usually, there is an unconscious “self-importance” or a sense of feeling “special” at play here in relation to having these experiences which define one’s self-image (i.e. who we “think” we are).
Sometimes, it is also just an underlying morbid fascination with the topic, and a part of themselves (the “predator mind”) that actually “likes” the drama identifies with this subject. Essentially, it still provides the frequency which these forces lock onto; meanwhile, none of this is recognized by the person on a conscious level, which shows how tricky it can be to deal with these forces in order to establish a sovereign embodied state of being (complete with energetic boundaries).
While it is obviously important to understand the “modus operandi” of the hyperdimensional entities and educate ourselves (and others) about it, we need to be careful not give “them” more power by giving them too much “attention”. It’s not a black & white scenario and as always, each situation is different.
– from THE PERILOUS PATH TOWARDS AWAKENING
Know that you are powerful, and already have all the tools at your disposal to counteract any attacks. While any occult attack/interference is specific and “calibrated” for each person (since it always relates to a corresponding “issue” or frequency/vibration within you), there are general “rules” that can stop any form of attack and even dispel an entity attachment (by yourself).
This is also important to keep in mind with regards to the aforementioned issues with ayahuasca and other medicine plants/psychedelics. While taking these substances can increase the risk of entity interference, there still needs to be something WITHIN YOU that responds – or corresponds to – the intrusion, be it via a tap of agreement (calling beings in) or these frequencies hooking into your blind spots/wounds.
In my own battles with occult hostile forces, especially the more severe ones several years ago (in a period of intense hyperdimensional warfare), I was able to exorcise entities that were attached to me on my own (I have shared such an experience in HERE) as well as counteracting attacks and interferences without the help/need of any outside assistance. I’m not saying that it is easy (and it depends on many factors) and often times we do need help, especially when starting out on the “clear out” campaign…I have learned the hard way, via trial and error. These experiences also showed me that these hostile forces serve a ‘teaching function’ (in light of soul evolution/the process of awakening), confronting the sincere seeker with tests, ordeals and tribulations that need to be learned/passed before he/she can move on to the next level or stage. Many people can get stuck in that stage, caught in fear, paranoia or blame/victim consciousness.
One of these “tools” is to learn not to react, to not give in to any thought injections (and resulting triggered feelings) – to comprehend that these thoughts and emotional states of despair or depression, etc. are not one’s own, and to REJECT them (literally) as not being a reflection of one’s true Self (and correspondingly, to not believe in self-diminishing thoughts that you think are your own.) In the past, I made it harder on myself than it had to be, especially when I was caught in the tunnel vision of Jungian Psychology, assuming that everything I experienced and encountered was “my shadow” and needed to be “integrated”. While shadow work is obviously important and I value Jungs’ research a lot (and still apply it), it has its limitations when taken as a foundation in light of the “topic of all topics”.
As with most every subject I write about, it’s not black and white. The most important part in it all is the embodiment journey – to stay in the body (getting out of the head!) while developing extra-sensory perception (which happens “automatically” if one is sincerely engaged in the process of embodiment, i.e. soul-integration) in order to discern internal from external suggestions. This leads to the perception of these forces directly, establishing what Sri Aurobindo called “yogic consciousness” beyond the five senses (which many non-Western cultures have identified, to varying degrees) – this also takes practice, with a lengthy process of trial and error.
The key point to embrace (with regards to allowing true “spiritual power” to counter-act any form of attack) is to establish equanimity, inner stillness and calmness, i.e. zero-point non-reactive consciousness. The quieter you are within, the stronger you become (including your energetic boundary), and thus the easier it gets to deal with any form of occult attack. Gradually, with this development, these forces will find you far less appealing as a possible host, for you refuse to “give” them what they want.
I also work with prayer, connecting to and calling in the Divine Force (the True Light) when needed, which is really based on a continued sincere aspiration towards union with the Divine (the whole aim of the process of Awakening…to commune with the whole of which we are inexorably an expression of). That is VERY different than calling in archangels, deities, or entities in general, which most often can result in a trap of agreement when there is lack of discernment with negative entities appearing as “positive” beings, which also includes “false light” appearances:
“To say that all light is good is as if you said that all water is good – or even that all clear or transparent water is good: it would not be true. One must see what is the nature of the light or where it comes from or what is in it, before one can say that it is the true Light.
False lights exist and misleading lustres, lower lights too that belong to the being’s inferior reaches. One must therefore be on one’s guard and distinguish; the true discrimination has to come by growth of the psychic feeling and a purified mind and experience.
The word “Appearances” refers to the forms they take in order to rule the world, forms often false and always incarnating falsehood, sometimes pseudo-divine. Often, representing themselves as divine powers, they mislead, give erring suggestions and impulsions and pervert the inner life.”
– Sri Aurobindo, The Hidden Forces of Life
You don’t need a “middle man” to connect with the Divine, which is essentially expressed through your ‘I AM’ presence, connected to Spirit within via embodied soul anchoring (bringing the soul/psychic being to the forefront, and not becoming identified with the conditioned-ego personality). This form of prayer is also not coming from a victim/fear state and/or desperate “begging”, but is rooted in the aforementioned equanimity in conjunction with Faith and Trust, essentially connecting you to your spiritual warrior self (higher self), claiming your sovereignty (not to be confused with “independence” – the ego’s distortion of “sovereignty”) in alignment with – and as transducer for – the Divine.
About three years ago (after the aforementioned phase of hyperdimensional warfare), I came across the work of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother (Integral Yoga). Their work and suggestions regarding how to deal with occult hostile forces have confirmed what I have experienced, learned and applied for myself (see quotes below). I’m still dealing with occult interferences and attacks here and there, but nothing near as severe as what transpired a few years back. I can now spot them much more quickly, before they have an opportunity to enter and/or enable their suggestions to take a hold within me – I firmly but calmly reject them as being not an expression of my true Self.
Still, the learning continues, but I also know that I will never be confronted with more than I can handle. Again, from a higher perspective, all there is are lessons and initiations (specific to one’s unique path) in light of soul evolution and the process of awakening. A consistent meditation practice (or any body-mind practice) helps to “train” oneself to stay rooted in equanimity, in the body, while detaching from the predator monkey mind. Learning to calm the mind is really the foundational key within any spiritual work, and it’s especially needed for the times that we find ourselves in right now, so that we may avoid mechanically reacting to “outside” circumstances (and thus giving away our power).
“The [occult] hostile forces exist and have been known to Yogic experience ever since the days of the Veda and Zoroaster in Asia and the mysteries of Egypt and Chaldea and the Cabbala and in Europe also from old times. These things of course cannot be felt or known so long as one lives in the ordinary mind and its ideas and perceptions — for there there are only two categories of influences recognizable, the ideas and feelings and actions of oneself and others and the play of environment and physical forces.
But once one begins to get the inner view of things, it is different. One begins to experience that all is an action of forces, forces of Prakriti psychological as well as physical which play upon our nature — and these are conscious forces or are supported by a consciousness or consciousnesses behind. One is in the midst of a big universal working and it is impossible any longer to explain everything as the result of one’s own sole and independent personality.
You yourself have at one time written that your crises of despair etc. came upon you as if thrown on you and worked themselves out without your being able to determine or put an end to them. That means an action of universal forces and not merely an independent action of your own personality, though it is something in your nature of which they make use. But you are not conscious, and others also, of this intervention and pressure at its source for the reason I state.
Yes, they [the hostile forces] have their own world and, if they kept to it, there could be no objection to their existence. There is a world that is natural to them and has its own rhythm, its own dharma. But, they want to dominate the evolution and for that purpose they have taken their station in the vital worlds which influence the earth nature and give it its materials for life.
As for the greater [divine] Forces (e.g. Overmind) they are dynamic and try always to make consciousness effective, but they insist on consciousness, while the hostiles care nothing for that — the more unconscious you are and their automatic tool, the better they are pleased.
The hostiles have themselves bodies though not of a gross physical kind — they see, but with a subtle seeing that includes not only bodies, but movements of forces, thoughts, feelings. Very great are the occult powers of the hostile beings — it is their occult powers and knowledge of occult processes that make them so strong and effective.
The Asuras and Rakshasas etc. do not belong to the earth, but to supraphysical worlds; but they act upon the earth life and dispute the control of human life and character and action with the Gods. They are the Powers of Darkness combating the Powers of Light. Sometimes they possess men in order to act through them, sometimes they take birth in a human body.
These things [occult demonic beings materializing in physical form] are possible but they do not usually happen — because it is difficult for beings of the subtle worlds to materialise to such an extent or for a long time. They prefer to act by influencing human beings, using them as instruments or taking possession of a human mind and body.
The hostile Forces are Powers of Darkness who are in revolt against the Light and the Truth and want to keep this world under their rule in darkness and ignorance. Whenever anyone wants to reach the Truth, to realize the Divine, they stand in the way as much as possible. But what they are specially against is the work the Mother and myself are doing, to bring down the Light here into the earth and establish the Truth — that would mean their own expulsion. So they always try to destroy the work as a whole and to spoil the sadhana [spiritual work/practice] of each sadhak [seeker]. It is not only you who are attacked: all are attacked more or less — especially when there is a great progress, these forces try to interfere.
The prolongation of the difficulty and its acuteness come from the fact that there are Forces in Nature, not personal or individual but universal, which live upon these movements and through them have long controlled the individual nature. These do not want to lose their rule and so when these movements are thrown out, they throw them back on the sadhak in strong waves or with great violence. Or they create in the vital a great depression, discouragement, despair — that is their favorite weapon — because it is losing its former field of desires and has not yet in any continuity something that would replace it, the assured continuous psychic or spiritual condition or experience. To prevent that is the whole effort of these Forces.
So they create these upheavals and the vital admits them because of its old habit of response to the lower Forces. At the same time they put in suggestions to the mind so as to make it also accept the disturbance, discouragement and depression. That is what I meant by saying that these are attacks from outside and must be rejected. If they cannot be rejected altogether, yet one must try to keep a part of the mind conscious which will refuse to admit the suggestions or share in the depression and trouble, — which will say firmly, “I know what this is and I know that it will pass and I shall resume my way to the goal which nothing can prevent me from reaching, since my soul’s will is and will always be for that.” You have to reach the point where you can do that always; then the power of the Forces to disturb will begin to diminish and fall away.
The difficulty is always that something in the nature gives a hold to the attack. It either still indulges it and likes it or even, if wanting to be free, is too accustomed to receive and respond to the old feelings, thoughts, suggestions and does not yet know how not to respond. The first thing is for the mental being to stand back, refuse to accept, say “This is no longer mine.” Then, even if the vital feeling responds to the attack, one part of the nature can be free and observe and discourage it. The next thing is for this free part to impose the same will of detachment on the vital so that after a time this also when the attack comes feels that it is something foreign, not its own, — as if a stranger had come into the room and was trying to impose his ideas or his will on the inmates. After that it becomes more easy to get rid of it altogether.”
– Sri Aurobindo, Letters on Yoga
Question: ‘How is one to meet adverse forces—forces that are invisible and yet quite living and tangible?’
The Mother: “A great deal depends upon the stage of development of your consciousness. At the beginning, if you have no special occult knowledge and power, the best you can do is to keep as quiet and peaceful as possible. If the attack takes the form of adverse suggestions try quietly to push them away, as you would some material object. The quieter you are, the stronger you become. The firm basis of all spiritual power is equanimity. You must not allow anything to disturb your poise: you can then resist every kind of attack. If, besides, you possess sufficient discernment and can see and catch the evil suggestions as they come to you, it becomes all the more easy for you to push them away; but sometimes they come unnoticed, and then it is more difficult to fight them. When that happens, you must sit quiet and call down peace and a deep inner quietness.
Hold yourself firm and call with confidence and faith: if your aspiration is pure and steady, you are sure to receive help.
Attacks from adverse forces are inevitable: you have to take them as tests on your way and go courageously through the ordeal. The struggle may be hard, but when you come out of it, you have gained something, you have advanced a step. There is even a necessity for the existence of the hostile forces. They make your determination stronger, your aspiration clearer.
It is true, however, that they exist because you gave them reason to exist. So long as there is something in you which answers to them, their intervention is perfectly legitimate. If nothing in you responded, if they had no hold upon any part of your nature, they would retire and leave you. In any case, they need not stop or hamper your spiritual progress.
The only way to fail in your battle with the hostile forces is not to have a true confidence in the divine help. Sincerity in the aspiration always brings down the required succour. A quiet call, a conviction that in this ascension towards the realisation you are never walking all alone and a faith that whenever help is needed it is there, will lead you through, easily and securely.
If you think or feel that they come from inside, you have possibly opened yourself to them and they have settled in you unnoticed. The true nature of things is one of harmony; but there is a distortion in certain worlds that brings in perversion and hostility. If you have a strong affinity for these worlds of distortion, you can become friends with the beings that are there and answer fully to them. That happens, but it is not a very happy condition. The consciousness is at once blinded and you cannot distinguish the true from the false, you cannot even tell what is a lie and what is not.
In any case, when an attack comes the wisest attitude is to consider that it comes from outside and to say, “This is not myself and I will have nothing to do with it.” You have to deal in the same way with all lower impulses and desires and all doubts and questionings in the mind. If you identify yourself with them, the difficulty in fighting them becomes all the greater; for then you have the feeling that you are facing the never easy task of overcoming your own nature. But once you are able to say, “No, this is not myself, I will have nothing to do with it”, it becomes much easier to disperse them.”
– The Mother, Collected Works of the Mother (Questions & Answers)
Empower Yourself! In closing, I’d like to address a very important point. I’ve already mentioned it above, in the story of the young man who took on an entity after an ayahuasca ceremony. This point involves the key “ingredient” in his healing journey. The most powerful “attitude” to establish in any healing work for ourselves (and to help make this world a better place) is to never fall into the victim/blame trap, be it concerning other people, the “system”, any situation we got ourselves into, or even blaming medicine plants and entities. Rather, we take on full responsibility for our own lives and choices, checking our own blindspots, wounds and shortcomings – this attitude/mind-state of not getting caught up in victim/blame “looping” is a very empowering evolutionary step, connecting you to your true self/divine guidance and establishing the right foundation for any healing process.
Keep in mind that entities feed off of the victim/blame frequency/projections and want us to play it out endlessly – taking responsibility doesn’t imply that we “blame” ourselves either, which can result in toxic guilt.
Rather, it requires humility (not to be mistaken for self-diminishment/self-pity) towards seeing own our “mistakes”, or towards making amends if we have hurt another person. Forgiveness for both self and others plays a big role in this process as well. In the end, this reality is one big classroom….and there are really no “mistakes” or “failures” from the perspective of soul evolution.
Understanding the trap of the perpetrator/savior/victim triangle is key for anyone who wants to heal, evolve, grow, and awaken. I recommend reading this article for more on this topic: “The Three Faces of Victim – An Overview of the Drama Triangle”
We all can get triggered at times, and act from our neurotic ego: seeking validation/attention/co-dependent love; shaming others; punishing them and putting them down. We make mistakes, poor choices, and have our down days, but all of this is part of the human experience, especially during these crazy Time of Transition days, with intense energies engulfing the planet at the present time. So much is happening on unseen levels which the mind cannot even get close to comprehending.
In the end it’s about self-love. Narcissism is “pathological” self-love, an inflated egoic shadow-state, and has nothing to do with the self-love I speak of – this affirming harmonic doesn’t need praise, validation or attention from outside ourselves. It is not concerned with the opinions which others have of us. It doesn’t listen to the “negative introvert”, our self-diminishing thoughts of guilt, shame, “not good enough” programs and insecurity, nor will it get inflated by flattery and compliments. It is also not an aloof/intellectual state of being, detached from our body and emotions. It is connected to the divine within us – something that is untouchable and cannot be defined nor described by the limitations of language.
The most important thing you can do to raise your frequency/vibration is to love yourself. Whatever happens to you, whatever shortcomings and issues you may have, whatever mistakes and poor choices you have made, whatever people have “done to you” – love yourself, be good to yourself and others, and forgive yourself and others. This doesn’t mean to justify your shortcomings (spiritual bypassing) or put up with abuse (boundaries!); nor does it mean to cover anything up or ‘put lipstick on a pig’. It simply means not getting stuck in the blame, shame, and guilt programs, and to see life through more compassionate and forgiving eyes in light of universal pain and suffering.
Don’t beat yourself up with this process; there is no need to get frustrated with others, either. Some people may lash out at you, attack you and attempt to shame you, but in the end, it is their own unacknowledged pain which they are projecting onto you; even people who constantly “scream” at the world about how everything is fucked up tend to project their own pain and frustration onto the world and others.
I’m not suggesting that everything “out there” is a projection of our shadow (that’s the New Age trap/distortion of “you spot it, you got it”), nor does what I state imply inaction/silence in the face of atrocities, abuse and the pathologies of official cult-ure. It’s not about escaping into a New Age “love bubble” either. The darkness needs to be made conscious, both within AND without. However, when we start to hate others, and project our disgust onto them – or think that others deserve to be punished and shamed, or even killed (no matter what they have done) – then we play the game on the level of the “predator”, the negative hyperdimensional entities who are keeping humanity in a frequency asylum. In short, we become that what many of us are fighting against, and thus feed into their agenda…pun intended.
What Mystics, Prophets and Ancient Cultures Revealed About Hyper-Dimensional Entities
By Makia Freeman
Hyper-dimensional entities have been recognized, discussed and warned about for literally millennia, throughout the history of humanity. Naturally, there are many people who scoff at the very idea of such beings, believing them to be fictitious inv entions of the human mind. However, the fact that so many cultures, traditions, religions and spiritualities have discussed the nature of these creatures, using different terms but essentially describing the same thing, gives credence to the idea that they exist. We have been cautioned for millennia that humanity is under psychic attack by a group of energetic, discarnate beings that seed thoughts of judgement, separation, anxiety, anger and fear in order to generate loosh (negative emotional energy) that they siphon off as food. In searching for what force is really behind the construction of the New World Order and the grander conspiracy, one is bound to investigate these hyper-dimensional entities, who may be the original handlers, puppet masters and mind control perpetrators manipulating the whole of mankind.
Beyond the Frequency Band of Human PerceptionWe have to take seriously the idea that the hidden ruler(s) of this crazy world are invisible, or at least, operate from frequencies beyond normal perception. After all, no one knows exactly from where thoughts originate. If there were a force that could control which thoughts are beamed into the mind, then every single living person would be vulnerable to psychic attack. These hyper-dimensional entities are said to be able to infiltrate your mind, make their voice sound like yours and entice you to do their bidding – all with the aim of generating fear, which is their food. Are they are the “gods” of yore that demanded sacrifice? Are they the evil spirits that possess people? Are they the masters of trickery who continually try to keep us in fear and out of our center of power – our heart? What follows is a list of 10 different traditions and cultures that describe these hyper-dimensional entities using their own terms and ideas.
1. The Archons (Gnosticism)The ancient Gnostics were named after gnôsis, the Greek word for knowledge or insight. Gnosticism was a loosely organized religious and philosophical movement that flourished in the 1st and 2nd centuries AD. The Gnostics believed that the material world was the result of a primordial error on the part of a divine being (usually called Sophia [Wisdom] or the Logos). They attributed the creation and control of the material world to a semi-divine, ignorant creature known, who was called Saklas (the fool), Ialdebaoth (the blind god) or the Demiurge (from the Greek dêmiourgos which means craftsman, but which the Gnostics meant as the architect or lesser creative force).
In Gnostic mythology/cosmology, both Sophia and the Demiurge are subordinate to the Supreme Being/Cosmos (God). The Demiurge was antagonistic to anything spiritual, and had a group of servants known as the Archons (Greek meaning ruler). The research of Gnostic scholar John Lash reveals that the Gnostics were early mystic shamans who reached high states of consciousness, knew their direct connection with the Cosmos and honored the importance of the female principle (Sophia) to live balanced lives. He concludes that the Catholic Church feared their power, so it killed them and banished the survivors underground.
The Dead Sea Scrolls discovered in Qumran Palestine and the Nag Hammadi Codices discovered in Egypt (both in the 1940s) are important Gnostic texts which expose the truth about the Archons. Here is a quote from the Apocryphon of John, a Nag Hammadi text:
“They sought to overpower humanity in its psychological and perceptual functions… although they saw that human thinking was superior to theirs… For indeed their delight is bitter and their beauty is depraved. And their triumph is in deception (apaton), leading astray, for their own structure is without divinity.”
The Gnostics were postulating the idea of a predatory alien presence that took delight in others’ pain and that used deception as a tool. Disconnected from their own power (“without divinity”), they became parasites that had to hijack the energy of others to survive.
2. Demons (Christianity)These same forces are called Demons in the Christian tradition. In this famous quote from Ephesians 6:12, the creatures are actually called “rulers” and “authorities”, which directly echoes the language used to describe the Archons in the Dead Sea Scrolls and Nag Hammed texts:
“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
Christianity also contains a tradition of exorcism of evil spirits. The Gospel contains many stories of Jesus casting out the evil spirits. This tradition continues to the current day. Father Gabriele Amorth was a former official in the Vatican who served as exorcist for the diocese of Rome for 30 years. He was also the founder of the International Association of Exorcists.
3. Jinn / Djinn (Arabian mythology)In pre-Islamic Arabia before the rise of the prophet Muhammad in the 6th century CE, Arabian mythology contains references to the Jinn or Djinn, who were considered to be supernatural spirits (and could be good or bad). Jinn is a classification of a number of different types of supernatural being. The book The Evolution of the Concept of the Jinn from Pre-Islam to Islam describes how they could appear as pure spiritual beings or angels or demons, as indicated by Ibn Manzur, in “Lisan al-Arab”:
“The people of the Jahiliyyah called angels – peace be upon them – jinn because they were invisible from sight …”
They could also be tangible creatures, particularly with animal-like characteristics, as stated by The Encyclopedia of Religion and Ethics:
“… were not pure spirits, for they were often represented as hairy and often as having the form of an ostrich or a snake.”
The book mentions 4 specific types of Jinn in the pre-Islamic world:
1. Ghul: we get the English word “ghoul” from this. The ghuls were desert demons believed to rob graves and devour corpses. They seemed to appear in many different forms, often animalistic. They could appear and disappear “like the light of a torch”. They left a physical corpse behind when killed, thus the poem by Ta’abbata Sharran:
“I spent the night leaning on her, waiting for the morning to see what I caught. Then I found two eyes in an ugly head, similar to the head of a cat with a forked tongue.”
2. Si’lah: The difference between this and the former is not clear to me. They seem to be more sneaky and clever. A story exists of a one marrying and bearing human children. Possible other differences may be that they are active during the day, instead of at night, or that the Si’lah is female, and the Ghul male. neither seems to be universally respected though.
3. Shiqq: this was a man with only half of a body who would beat a human to death if encountered. From Al-Jahiz:
“There, a shiqq appeared to him. He had only one hand, one eye, one leg. They recited poetry to each other, then they hit each other, and both of them fell dead.”
4. Shaytan: this will be expanded upon below. The English word “Satan” is derived from this Arabic word. They were noted for being smart, cunning, powerful and generally rebellious.
4. Shaytan / Satan (Islam)The Shaytan (plural Shayatin) belongs to pre-Islamic Arabian mythology, however there is a story that Muhammad was tricked by one (although there are debates by scholars over the historicity of this incident), realized it, and came out publicly the next day to correct what he said. In the Quran, there is the story of Iblis, the first Shaytan, who was apparently made by Allah (God) from a fire so pure that not even smoke could mar its beauty.
This is interesting, because reference to the Archons as made from smokeless fire crops up repeatedly across different traditions. Iblis refused to bow to Adam (who was after all a mere man made of clay), so Allah banished him from heaven. Iblis swore to take revenge on Adam and all clay-men like him.
Iblis is considered the lord of all Shayatin and is said to have gathered an army of Shayatin and Jinn to persecute mankind. A Shaytan is described as a sweeping force and a whispering voice, visible only to donkeys, who bray desperate warnings when they see it approaching. This again is noteworthy, since this highlights the theme that these hyper-dimensional entities are outside the normal range of normal human perception – but not outside the perceptions of other creatures such as animals like donkeys (or cats), and not outside the range of human perception when a person (through will, intent or even psychedelics) expands his or her perception range.
5. Hostile Forces (Sri Aurobindo, the Mother, Rudolf Steiner)Sri Aurobindo was an Indian sage who founded Integral Yoga. He wrote about the Archons using the term hostile forces:
“It [the adverse force] is the Power that keeps up ignorance and darkness in the world —it can only be destroyed when mankind is no longer in love with ignorance and darkness. Each sadhak has to push it out of contact with his being. When it has gone from him, then there will be no longer any serious difficulties in his sadhana [practise] … The hostile Forces are Powers of Darkness who are in revolt against the Light and the Truth and want to keep this world under their rule in darkness and ignorance. Whenever anyone wants to reach the Truth, to realise the Divine, they stand in the way as much as possible … Sometimes they possess men in order to act through them, sometimes they take birth in a human body. When their use in the play is over, they will either change or disappear or no longer seek to intervene in the earth-play.”
The Mother, a woman closely associated with Sri Aurobindo and his work, talks about it here as she elucidates upon spirit possession or demonic possession:
“Question: When a being is possessed by a hostile force, what becomes of his psychic?
Mother: It depends on the degree of the possession. Usually it is something progressive. First there is an influence under which one comes … The second: the influence becomes permanent and there is one part of the being which deteriorates, which is constantly under this influence and expresses it. After this, the being which has cast this influence tries to enter that part. Then, usually, this produces a conflict, a kind of inner battle … if one doesn’t know how to resist and doesn’t succeed in shaking off the hold, then gradually the being that has seized upon a part of the person acts like an octopus and spreads its tentacles like that, slowly and everywhere; and finally it is a total possession. At the moment of the total possession, either the possessed person becomes completely unbalanced or he becomes a kind of monster …”
Rudolf Steiner is known for many things including his revolutionary ideas about education. He too was aware of the Archons:
“There are beings in the spiritual realms for whom anxiety and fear emanating from human beings offer welcome food. When humans have no anxiety and fear, then these creatures starve … If fear and anxiety radiates from people and they break out in panic, then these creatures find welcome nutrition and they become more and more powerful. These beings are hostile towards humanity. Everything that feeds on negative feelings, on anxiety, fear and superstition, despair or doubt, are in reality hostile forces in supersensible worlds, launching cruel attacks on human beings, while they are being fed. Therefore, it is above all necessary to begin with that the person who enters the spiritual world overcomes fear, feelings of helplessness, despair and anxiety. But these are exactly the feelings that belong to contemporary culture and materialism; because it estranges people from the spiritual world, it is especially suited to evoke hopelessness and fear of the unknown in people, thereby calling up the above mentioned hostile forces against them.”
6. Cosmic Predator / Mud Shadow (Shamanic a la Castaneda)Out of all the descriptions of hyper-dimensional entities thus far presented, the descriptions given by Carlos Castaneda in his 12th and final book, The Active Side of Infinity, are the most disturbing for me personally. I still remember reading it in my early 20s and being shocked to my core. Some part of me knew it was deeply true, and it rendered anything else I had learnt in my life up until that point as irrelevant and meaningless, because this was, without doubt, where the real battle lay. Castaneda relates what his mentor Don Juan taught him about the Archons, which he called the Cosmic Predator and the Mud Shadow:
“We have a predator that came from the depths of the cosmos and took over the rule of our lives. Human beings are its prisoners. The Predator is our lord and master. It has rendered us docile, helpless. If we want to protest, it suppresses our protest. If we want to act independently, it demands that we don’t do so … this was an energetic fact for the sorcerers of ancient Mexico … They took us over because we are food for them, and they squeeze us mercilessly because we are their sustenance. Just as we rear chickens in chicken coops, the predators rear us in human coops, humaneros. Therefore, their food is always available to them.”
“Sorcerers believe that the predators have given us our systems of belief, our ideas of good and evil, our social mores. They are the ones who set up our hopes and expectations and dreams of success or failure. They have given us covetousness, greed, and cowardice. It is the predators who make us complacent, routinary, and egomaniacal … In order to keep us obedient and meek and weak, the predators engaged themselves in a stupendous manoeuvre stupendous, of course, from the point of view of a fighting strategist. A horrendous manoeuvre from the point of view of those who suffer it. They gave us their mind! Do you hear me? The predators give us their mind, which becomes our mind. The predators’ mind is baroque, contradictory, morose, filled with the fear of being discovered any minute now … through the mind, which, after all, is their mind, the predators inject into the lives of human beings whatever is convenient for them. And they ensure, in this manner, a degree of security to act as a buffer against their fear.”
“The sorcerers of ancient Mexico were quite ill at ease with the idea of when [the predator] made its appearance on Earth. They reasoned that man must have been a complete being at one point, with stupendous insights, feats of awareness that are mythological legends nowadays. And then, everything seems to disappear, and we have now a sedated man. What I’m saying is that what we have against us is not a simple predator. It is very smart, and organized. It follows a methodical system to render us useless. Man, the magical being that he is destined to be, is no longer magical. He’s an average piece of meat.”
The Mud Shadow explains the seemingly irreconcilable difference between man the genius engineer and man the stupid idiot. The Cosmic Predator uses man as food, but in order to get the most loosh he can, he has to whip man up into a negative frenzy, much as farmers fatten their chickens and cattle before killing them. Don Juan specifically explains that every human has a glowing coat of awareness upon which the Predator feeds; it “milks” man by provoking emotional drama so as to generate flashes of awareness that it then eats. In other places in the Castaneda book series, Don Juan describes the Mud Shadow as a foreign installation, and even hints that certain shamans (sorcerers) have seen the creature/creatures.
7. The Evil Magician (Gurdjieff)The Russian mystic George Gurdjieff echoed the same idea of man being a dulled creature, robbed of his power. Gurdjieff believed most people lived their lives in a kind of hypnotic trance or waking sleep. He illustrated this in his story of the evil magician:
“There was an evil magician. He lived deep in the mountains and the forests, and he had thousands of sheep. But the problem was that the sheep were afraid of the magician because every day the sheep were seeing that one of them was being killed for his breakfast, another was being killed for his lunch. So they ran away from the magician’s ranch and it was a difficult job to find them in the vast forest. Being a magician, he used magic.
He hypnotized all the sheep and suggested to them first of all that they were immortal and that no harm was being done to them when they were skinned, that, on the contrary, it would be very good for them and even pleasant; secondly he suggested that the magician was a good master who loved his flock so much that he was ready to do anything in the world for them; and in the third place he suggested to them that if anything at all were going to happen to them it was not going to happen just then, at any rate not that day, and therefore they had no need to think about it.
He then told different sheep…to some, “You are a man, you need not be afraid. It is only the sheep who are going to be killed and eaten, not you. You are a man just like I am.” Some other sheep were told, “You are a lion – only sheep are afraid. They escape, they are cowards. You are a lion; you would prefer to die than to run away. You don’t belong to these sheep. So when they are killed it is not your problem. They are meant to be killed, but you are the most loved of my friends in this forest.” In this way, he told every sheep different stories, and from the second day, the sheep stopped running away from the house.
They still saw other sheep being killed, butchered, but it was not their concern. Somebody was a lion, somebody was a tiger, somebody was a man, somebody was a magician and so forth. Nobody was a sheep except the one who was being killed. This way, without keeping servants, he managed thousands of sheep. They would go into the forest for their food, for their water, and they would come back home, believing always one thing: “It is some sheep who is going to be killed, not you. You don’t belong to the sheep. You are a lion – respected, honored, a friend of the great magician.” The magician’s problems were solved and the sheep never ran away again.”
Gurdjieff believed humanity was not only like a flock of sheep, but also food for the moon, a concept which is well explained here:
“In the Fourth Way cosmology, creation proceeds outward and downward from a central point, called Sun Absolute. Creation passes through multiple levels, known as cosmoi or worlds and finally reaches the level corresponding to Earth. Due to special cosmic circumstance, organic life on Earth is necessary for receiving this energy of creation and transforming this into a form that is passed further along, to “feed” the “Moon”, which is said to be growing. All this is seen as a natural process where organic Earth life, including man, performs a function in a cosmic organism, a little like bacteria perform a function in the human digestive system. The fact of mankind collectively being required to produce certain ‘vibrations’ or ‘energies’ for serving various cosmic purposes is stressed throughout George Gurdjieff’s Beelzebub’s Tales to His Grandson. So called planetary influences cause mankind to fight wars and endure cataclysms so that a certain quota of energy release be fulfilled and the “Moon fed”.”
The ideas of a Predator eating our awareness (loosh) and food for the moon are all synonymous.
8. Wetiko (Native American Indian)In slight contrast to the view of the Archons as presented in the works of Castaneda and elsewhere, the Native American Indian traditions conceived hyper-dimensional entities as a mind virus, which they called wetiko. In an earlier article Mind Virus Wetiko: Collective Shadow of Humanity, I expanded upon the idea of wetiko and the shadow as explained by brilliant psychologist Carl Jung. The wetiko is based in the unconsciousness of the collective psyche:
“[Wetiko] is a master of distraction, making us look outside of ourselves and find issues and problems there, rather than looking within. We find people or groups outside of ourselves that match our projections of evil or darkness, then falsely believe the darkness is (only) outside of ourselves. This becomes a self-perpetuating feedback loop where we become unwitting propagators of wetiko.”
“Paul suggests that whether we look at wetiko as a cunning enemy out to destroy us, or a cheeky challenger out to prod and poke us into a fuller awareness, is a matter of perspective. Obviously, it is more empowering to view the created situations and outcomes of the mind virus as gifts rather than as curses or burdens, because the former view may spur us on to become better people, while the latter may lead us to anger and hate. We do, at least, have that much choice, but unless we are already a fully awakened or enlightened individual, we do not yet have the choice of whether to invite wetiko into our lives or not. It’s already here, and it’s not going away, unless every last speck of shadow is fully acknowledged.”
Form this perspective, the hyper-dimensional entities are part of a single mind virus which tries to trick us at every turn, causing us to see problems in others (psychological projection) when really the problems originate in ourselves.
Other References to Hyper-Dimensional EntitiesThe list above is not complete, for there are many other traditions which speak of the same basic idea. The concept of Maya (in Hinduism) and Samsara (in Buddhism) describe the state of being lost in the illusion of the shadow or being led around by temptation and seduction (due to the Archontic influence). According to Bernard Guenther, there are other references to hyper-dimensional entities, e.g. Lords of Destiny (Hermeticism) and the General Law (Esoteric Christianity).
How Do ETs Fit into All of This?At this point, the overwhelming evidence for the existence of aliens or ETs (Extraterrestrials) must be mentioned – especially for the Greys and Reptilians. It is unclear where these beings are the same thing as the Archons (who are not physical), or whether they are physical and therefore subject to psychic attack by the Archons just as mankind is, though I tend to believe the latter. There are many different whistleblowers who claim to have had physical interactions with Greys and Reptilians (you can read some of them here and here) including Phil Schneider, Niara Isley, Nadira Duran, Barbara Lamb and many others. There is also the idea put forth by many such as Whitley Strieber that hostile ETs (engaged in producing an alien-human hybrid race through genetic engineering) cannot physically experience Earth in their own bodies, so they appear to be trying to experience it through others. This idea suggests there is something different, non-corporeal or ethereal about these ETs, just as there undoubtedly is with the Archons. They can’t quite cross dimensions. However, more research needs to be done in this area.
One final note on this aspect of the topic: a common theme among stories about hyper-dimensional entities and Reptilians is that there is some kind of channel which is opened (especially during ritual). This channel is a 2-way street. The possessing force takes over the vessel’s thoughts, words and actions to some degree, while the possessed gets to used borrowed energy and feels a dark rush or adrenaline high. The main point of this demonic possession is so that the hyper-dimensional entity can cross over dimensions more easily into this world. This is very important to remember when looking at the sick sexual and sacrificial Satanic rituals performed by the elite at places like Bohemian Grove. David Icke’s take on it is this: while Archons can come in to our reality, it takes so much energy for them to remain in our frequency band that they can’t stay very long. So, they have possessed the elite New World Order (NWO) families who are essentially “Archon Families” who channel them and bring about their agenda on Earth. The British Royal Family, psychopathic CEOs and pedophilic leaders are expressions of the Archon mentality on Earth.
Beware the Fake LightThere is much evidence that it is the Archons who are behind the “fake light” of the New Age movement, the possible light trap at the point of death and the ubiquitous divide-and-rule strategy we see everywhere in the push towards a NWO. This topic is too big to go into here, however I will briefly quote Cameron Day:
“In order to capture and control the widest possible spectrum of souls, the corrupt demiurge split its agents into two seemingly opposing teams: Dark vs (false) Light … What matters most to the demiurge is that we worship it or one of its agents, regardless if they are on the light team or the dark team. The corrupt demiurge is an entropic system of artificially-induced separation consciousness that is slowly dying, and it depends on harvesting the energy from the souls incarnated within its system in order to preserve its existence.”
Final ThoughtsEven though there is a lot of evidence for the existence of Archons, we have to consider the possibility that we may be anthropomorphizing them. Perhaps they are actual creatures, or perhaps they are symbolic representations of our our shadows, our wounds and our fears. Either way, when those tempting, seductive and tormenting thoughts arrive in your head – as happens to every human on the planet – you have a very real battle in front of you and inside of you. That much we can say for sure. I will end this series by suggesting the following ways you can confront and overcome the hyper-dimensional entities, so that you are no longer their prisoner, although this work may take an entire lifetime:
– Name the Demon: once you take responsibility or own a part of your shadow or unconscious behavior, it loses its grip on you. This is especially powerful when done semi-publicly in front of a safe group of people you trust.
– Integrate, Don’t Obliterate: from a spiritual and psychological perspective, overcoming the shadow is all about integration, not obliteration. You can’t destroy the “dark side” since it will be always be there as part of the whole in contrast to love, so that we can know what love truly is. The spiritual path is about healing whatever split we hold within by integrating the disassociated parts of ourselves into a fully aware whole.
– Be the Observer / Watcher: develop a practice of watching the voices inside of your head, so that you don’t identify with them. The only way they can actually have power over you is by tricking you into identifying with a certain metal position.
– Do Your Inner Work: the battle is within. Focus on what’s inside of you. It’s hard to save the world or effectively help others if you haunted by past wounds that you haven’t healed.
– Worry about your own Shadow, not Others’: we all know it’s far easier to see the shadow in others than ourselves, but each person can only heal themselves.
– Revoke all Agreements/Contracts with any Negative Hyper-Dimensional Entities: with power, certainty and authority, state that you are cancelling and revoking any and all agreements with any hyper-dimensional entities you believe have a hold over you.
– Sharpen your Intuition and Discernment: the more you connect with your intuition (gut-heart) and not your reason (mind), the more you will know rather than try to figure out. Your intuition will help you discern which voice is real and which voices are tricking you. It will also help you discern truth from falsehood as a reader and researcher. The truth is never just handed to you on a golden platter. You have to struggle and sweat for it.
– Find the Place of Invulnerability and Power Inside of You: as Paul Levy says, “the only way to defeat wetiko is to find the place inside of yourself which is invulnerable to wetiko.” Learn to laugh at the voices of hopelessness, despair and temptation. They are not true, unless you believe them.
To all – good luck in your battle of confronting your inner demons! And as Plato said – be kind, for everyone is fighting this battle.
Psychic Parasites, Inter-Dimensional Beings and the Occult Elite
“Know thyself and you will know the Universe and the Gods”
– Delphi Oracle
By Alex Vandenberg, Contributor
When scurrying down the rabbit hole on the pathless path one is inevitably confronted by an inter-dimensional race of beings, often of an insect-like reptilian nature, perched atop the pinnacle of power that constitutes the nucleus of the New World Order. The appellations attributed to these dark interstellar actors are myriad and run the gamut of everything from the Sumerian Anunnaki to the Sons of God. While there is a plethora of contemporary material available on the subject, it appears very little has been written on what these ancient “gods” actually are. Instead of adding to the convoluted nature of the subject with more conjecture, let’s try to pin down these phantasmagoric apparitions and put them within a contextual framework that sheds light on their true nature. For if we are to defeat our enemy we must truly understand that enemy.
Pieces of the PuzzleFrom the ancient ruins and relics of the past, to the ecstatic, visionary experiences of shamans across all cultures and epochs, to the pre-historic paintings that grace the underground caverns of Pech Merle; to the mythologies of the world, the literature on fairies of medieval times, the practices of black magick by a certain Satanic cult, and even our modern-day documented accounts of the alien abduction experience, we seemingly find evidence of these agencies of the underworld everywhere. We even find their ephemeral, ethereal personages imbued within the sacred architecture of our nation’s capital along with numerous bas reliefs, statues, monuments, and fountains that are literally littered throughout the world. It’s almost as if these invisible entities are clandestinely announcing their presence behind the scenes while quietly charting the course of humanity.
When undertaking more than just a cursory examination of the aforementioned (as well as other subject fields) we uncover a whole slew of parallels and patterns which ultimately culminate in a cornucopia of commonality and continuity. In essence, what we discover (among other things) is that the so-called fairies, shamanic spirits, mythological gods, DMT entities, and aliens are all qualitatively equivalent; that they are not mutually exclusive separate phenomena but rather different forms or manifestations of the same recurring phenomena that has been transpiring since the dawn of recorded history. In addition, we find that the non-ordinary transcendental experience associated with these entities itself seems to be evolving.
Instead of diving head first into the more esoteric aspects of this ongoing intervention into the affairs of humanity, let’s gradually wade ourselves into the deep end of the waters by highlighting one of the main attributes of their modus operandi. This facet I’m referring to is the parasitic quality of their nature. More specifically, it is the demonstrable notion that they literally utilize our energetic emanations as a food source for purposes of their own survival and expansion. We see this peculiar operating principle in the great epic poems, including Homer and Virgil’s works, where the gods are routinely described as swooping over the savory smoke of sacrifice to lick up the scintillating effluvia, i.e. the food of the gods. Whether it is in the fields of mythology, magick, or shamanism- or in the milieu of a modern-day scientific setting, we consistently uncover this particularly pernicious aspect of their character, as can be gleaned from the selected quotes below:
“The gods did smell the savour, the gods did smell the savour sweet, the gods gathered like flies around the man making sacrifice.” – The Epic of Gilgamesh
“These Elementals live in the soul-realm of man as long as he lives, and grow strong and fat, for they live on his life-principle, and are fed by the substance of his thoughts.”- Franz Hartmann, M.D.s, Magic: White and Black
“They took over because we are food for them, and they squeeze us mercilessly because we are their sustenance. Just as we rear chickens in chicken coops, gallineros, the predators rear us in human coops, humaneros. Therefore, their food is always available to them.”- Carlos Castaneda, The Active Side of Infinity
“They are attracted to emotions. Animal fear is what attracts them the most; it releases the kind of energy that suits them.”- Carlos Castaneda, The Fire from Within
“They were interested in emotion…They feasted as they made love to me.”- Rick Strassman, M.D., quoting DMT volunteer speaking of insect-like, reptilian creatures in DMT The Spirit Molecule
When reading through the above quotes one can’t help be reminded of that now famous scene within the movie The Matrix when Morpheus initiates the unnerved neophyte into the desert of the real. With an appearance of sheer befuddlement and bewilderment Neo is told the following:
“The Matrix is a computer generated dream world built to keep us under control in order to change a human being into this (holding up a battery).”
While some may axiomatically recoil at the thought of living in an illusory, mentally projected world and being relegated to indentured servant status by a ruling Elite, whether machine-like or not, the truth is that the Matrix analogy fits quite nicely with our current day reality (see David Bohm’s, Wholeness and the Implicate Order). The only slight differential, as far as I can tell, is the fact we are our own slave masters as it is we who build and sustain our own prison cells. This highly regrettable state of affairs is deftly encapsulated in the following quote taken from the film My Conversation with Andre:
“I think that New York is the new model for the new concentration camp. Where the camp has been built by the inmates themselves and the inmates are the guards and they have this pride in this thing they built- they’ve built their own prison. And so they exist in a state of schizophrenia where they are both guards and prisoners and as a result they no longer have, having been lobotomized, the capacity to leave the prison they’ve made or to even see it as a prison.”
Now that we’ve briefly touched on the practical role these entities play within the Matrix-like construct we find ourselves operating within, we can now move towards the more arcane, mystical aspects of their existence.
Guardians of the Gate Delving deeper into the occult oriented atmosphere that envelops these inter-dimensional creatures, we come to discover that they also play the mysterious part of guardians or gatekeepers. In this sense, they can properly be viewed as obstacles, nets, traps, or hurdles that need to be circumvented or surpassed if one seeks to actualize quintessence within. This idea runs through the whole of Buddhism, particularly the Mahayana school of thought, which is why it’s not surprising to see it pop up in the Tibetan Book of the Dead. There, in the instructions to the dead of the Bardo Todol, it is emphasized that both favorable and unfavorable gods are illusions that need to be overcome. This current of thought is also found in the field of Magick where the gods are characterized as the Dwellers of the Threshold who guard the garden of the paradise of the soul. We even stumble upon this symbolic rule in the practice of Yoga, as well as among many other spiritual disciplines. As Swami Vivekananda stated in his work Raja-Yoga:
“There are other dangers too: gods and other beings come to tempt the yogi. They do not want anyone to be perfectly free. They are jealous, just as we are, and even worse than us sometimes. They are very much afraid of losing their positions.”
As mentioned above, these “guardians” are guarding the gate to paradise. Question is – what exactly is that gate? Upon closer examination it turns out that the gate to paradise is no less than that well-known Mother Goddess of the universe that the ancient Egyptians termed Queen Isis. Both giver and taker, she is the womb from which the gods, man, animals, and every other form arose. In a nutshell, she is the feminine personification of space and time, among many other things; that bee that fructifies the soul. As Joseph Campbell, the great mythologist, so eloquently puts it in his work Creative Mythology:
“It is, however, by way of the Goddess Mother of the universe, whose womb is the apriority of space and time, that the one, there, becomes these many, here. It is she who is symbolized by the cross; as for instance, in the astrological-astronomical sign for earth. It is into and through her that the god-substance pours into this field of space and time in a continuous act of world-creative self giving; and through her, in return- her guidance and her teaching- that these many are led back, beyond her reign, to the light beyond dark from which all come.”
And what do you know, look what we find in the DMT experiments that were conducted by Dr. Rick Strassman:
“Yes. She had an elongated head. I guess the guardians were keeping me from seeing her… I know, but they do seem like something else. They seem like guardians, gatekeepers.”- Rick Strassman, M.D., DMT The Spirit Molecule
Or this quote from Graham Hancock in his work Supernatural: Meetings with the Ancient Teachers of Mankind describing his experience on ayahuasca shortly after he encounters insect-like, alien beings:
“A short while later, out of the background of shifting geometrical patterns, a beautiful Egyptian goddess appears. I see only her head and headdress clearly. She’s in full regalia.”
At this point some may be thinking, “So what? Those are hallucinations. Nothing real or of any value can be derived from a non-ordinary state of consciousness like that. For that’s just an aberrant, morbid anomaly of the mind.” The only problem with that line of thinking is little inconvenient facts like this:
“The paradox is that Rene Descartes’ Discourse on Method, the book that reformed the entire structure of Western knowledge and that provided the foundations for modern science, came to its author in three visionary dreams and a dream within a dream, which provided the key for interpreting the larger dream. What an irony it is that the entire edifice of rational, reductionist, positivist science, which today rejects “subjective knowledge”, was originally inspired by a revelation in a non-ordinary state of consciousness!”- Stanislav Grof, M.D., PH.D., The Holotropic Mind
Lastly, to wrap this section up, take a look at the below symbolism found in the Vatican that pops up over and over again:
Notice the gold dragons around the painting guarding the shell with a bee in the Center. The shell is obviously a well-known symbol for the goddess Venus who represents one of the many different variants of the Mother Goddess. The bee is another symbol of this goddess as she is also a Queen Bee.
In addition, compare and contrast the below images while reflecting on the Goddess’ role as Mother of the Gods and taking into consideration the following quote:
“Nature talks in signs and, to understand its language, one has to pay attention to similarities in form.”- Jeremy Narby, The Cosmic Serpent
The above picture is of the Bee Goddess on a Boeotian amphora circa 700 BC. The image below it is from a page in Graham Hancock’s work Supernatural in which he describes the entity as such:
“… alien face, gray in color, with a wide domed forehead and a narrow pointed chin- heart shaped, like the faces of the light beings I’d encountered a few days earlier. But this creature doesn’t look friendly. Its eyes are multi-segmented like those of a fly.”
Now that we’ve been given a glimpse into their role as guardians, let’s try to unveil them further in a manner that will shed additional light on this aspect of their functionality.
Parts of OurselvesAfter much subterranean excavating, we are now closer to uncovering that diamond in the rough. In the end, after extensively comparing and contrasting many different subject fields, we come upon the discovery that it is mythology juxtaposed against the backdrop of psychology that gives us some of the deepest insights. When straying outside the organized dogmatic ecclesiastical orthodox domain of religion we uncover an idea that dovetails perfectly with what mythology and psychology yield. This is the notion that all the gods, demons, heavens and hells are located within man himself. Whether it is the Indian Tantric tradition, the teachings of the ancient Mystery Schools, Dante’s Divine Comedy, Schopenhauer’s philosophy of the world as Will and Idea, the religious texts of the Upanishads, the beliefs of the Ashaninca, or even the Bible where it is said in Luke 17:20-21 that the Kingdom of God is within you, we stumble upon this introspective apprehension of all mythic forms.
As Joseph Campbell conveyed in his work Creative Mythology:
“All the gods are within, within you, within the world.”
While this statement is helpful, it is still unfortunately too nebulous. So let’s turn to Jungian psychology and in doing so attempt to transform the abstract into the concrete. In this field, the gods and goddesses are viewed as archetypal forces, instincts, or contents of the unconscious mind. As Dr. Carl Jung relayed in the commentary to the Tibetan Book of the Dead:
“The world of gods and spirits is truly “nothing but” the collective unconscious inside of me. To turn this sentence round so that it reads: The collective unconscious is the world of gods and spirits outside me, no intellectual acrobatics are needed…..”
The above quote intimates that there is essentially no fundamental difference between the inner and the outer. This makes perfect sense within the context of fractal, non-local, holographic multi-verse which is ultimately a cognitive construction, a psychic projection, or mirror of our own thoughts (see Michael Talbot’s, The Holographic Universe. Viewing the gods within this paradigm allows us to synthesize the research of those who see these ancient entities as inwardly generated vs. those who perceive them as a component of a free-standing external reality outside of our frequency range.
So, we see that these gods are in essence personifications of parts, the functionaries or agents of one monolithic order; that they are all manifestations of the unconscious mind, that underlying moving tremendum, that Matrix of Life of which Queen Isis is the feminine personification. As Dr. Carl Jung wrote in Psychology and Alchemy:
“Just as the father represents collective consciousness, the traditional spirit, so the mother stands for the collective unconscious, the source of the water of life. (Cf. the maternal significance of the fons signatus, as an attribute of the Virgin Mary, etc.)”
As implied above, and upon closer inspection, it turns that out that all the gods and goddesses of Antiquity are really one Goddess. As the initiate Apuleius states in The Golden Ass:
“I come, Lucius, moved by your entreaties: I, mother of the universe, mistress of the elements, first-born of the ages, highest of the gods, queen of shades, first of those who dwell in heaven, representing in one shape all gods and goddesses. My will controls the shining heights of heaven, the health-giving sea-winds, and the mournful silences of hell;
the entire world worships my single godhead in a thousand shapes, with divers rites, and under many a different name… but both races of Ethiopians, those on whom the rising and those on whom the setting of the sun shines, and the Egyptians who excel in ancient learning, honour me with the worship which is truly mine and call me by my true name: Queen Isis.”
Opening the Gates of HellIt is important to understand and stress that when these gods are suppressed they turn into veritable demons. Quoting again from Dr. Jung in his work The Archetypes and the Collective Unconscious we find the following:
“We also know that it is dangerous to suppress it, because the unconscious is life and this life turns against us if suppressed, as happens in neurosis.”
As a result of this suppression of the instinctual roots of the unconscious, the world is now engulfed in the flames of psychosis as a psychic split has emerged within the collective consciousness of humanity. Thus our current impasse is a function of sheer insanity. This is a world in which we are all being paganized, brutalized, sexualized, and debased in what is this Nigredo phase of the Alchemical Great Work; a world in which we are literally being fed on by a Force. We hear it everyday. Incessant, relentless chatter about how our leaders (or rather misleaders) are completely mad and how everything around us is inverted, corrupted, and perverted. As Michael Ellner, the author of Hope is Realistic, writes:
“Just look at us. Everything is backwards, everything is upside down. Doctors destroy health, lawyers destroy justice, psychiatrists destroy minds, scientists destroy truth, major media destroys information, religions destroy spirituality and governments destroy freedom.”
As an interesting side note, look at how Dr. Jung medically defines the term “insanity”:
“Insanity is possession by an unconscious content”- Dr. Carl Jung, Alchemical Studies
Hmm… Possession. Where have we heard that before? Oh yeah:
“It is from this process of “possession” by the reptilians and other low vibrational entities that we have the ancient tales, indeed modern ones too, of demons, devils and evil spirits taking over a human mind and body.”- David Icke, The Biggest Secret
“For thousands of years, humanity has been increasingly mind-possessed, failing to recognize the possessing entity as “not-self”.”- Eckhart Tolle, A New Earth
“It’s more like being possessed… It’s like they have an agenda… It’s got such a distinct flavor, the reptilian being or beings that are present.” – Dr. Rick Strassman, M.D. quoting DMT volunteer in DMT The Spirit Molecule
Resultant RevelationsEnergy as Food – All of these living forces directly correspond with some animal desire, impulse, drive, affect, instinct, or innate passion. They sustain themselves on the very thing that gave them life in the first place: thought. Initially, they are ethereal but tend to grow stronger and stronger as the desire to which they correlate with is catered to. Eventually, if given enough sustenance, they take on a more tangible, material type of existence. As Eckhart Tolle remarked in his work A New Earth:
“All thought is energy and the pain-body is now feeding on the energy of your thoughts.”
Guardians of the Gate –Integrating the instincts of the unconscious mind is a prerequisite to completing the process of individuation according to Dr. Carl Jung. These faculties of mind need to be addressed before one can become complete or “Whole”. If they are not addressed, or even worse suppressed, they tend to act as barriers preventing the would-be adept from actualizing his true Self.
Therianthropes/Shapeshifters – Aliens oftentimes appear in either pure animal or therianthropic (animal/human hybrid) form before transforming into the more familiar identity associated with contemporary pop-culture. According to John Mack, David Jacobs, and other researchers, this type of phenomena is not the exception but rather falls more on the side of the rule. This makes perfect sense given that the gods are psychic projections that mirror deeply embedded instinctual aspects of our character. Again, quoting from Dr. Franz Hartmann in Magic: White and Black:
“They form the dreaded Dwellers of the Threshold… They are described as having the form of snakes and tigers, hogs, insatiable wolves, etc., but as they are often the result of a mixture of human and animal elements, they do not merely exhibit purely animal forms; but they frequently look like animals with human heads or like men with animal members; they appear under endless varieties of shapes, because there is an endless variety of correlations and mixtures of lust, avarice, greed, sensual love, ambition, cowardice, fear, terror, hate, pride, vanity, self-conceit, stupidity, voluptuousness, selfishness, jealousy, envy, arrogance, hypocrisy, cunning, sophistry, imbecility, superstition, etc., etc.”
Ayahuasca vision painted by Peruvian Shaman Pablo Amaringo as featured in Ayahuasca Visions- The Religious Iconography of a Peruvian Shaman.
Paradoxical Nature – We see this contradictory aspect of their manifold nature in many ways. For example, take notice of their ambiguous sexuality and the fact that some of them appear benevolent while others seem to be more nefarious and malevolent (painful medical procedures and experiments associated with alien abduction). While there is much to be said about the latter, for now we will simply note that the crux of this can be explained by the nature of the unconscious itself. For within that realm everything is mixed together – both “good” and “bad”.
Hive-like Mentality – Given that the gods have been properly identified as the instincts/affects it’s no wonder that they oftentimes act in such a drone-like mechanical fashion. Notice too how the Occult Elite (an extension of these creatures) consistently stresses conformity, the standardization of all thought, collectivism, a left-brain masculine oriented outlook, and have in essence turned modernity into a industrious hailstorm of haste where everyone is always busy as a bee.
Warring of the Gods – This belligerent aspect of their character can be seen running rampant throughout the whole of world mythology. The idea of the gods as the real movers and shakers behind the scenes facilitating a state of perpetual warfare is brilliantly illuminated in Homer’s The Iliad. The message is clear: the history of world affairs is the history of the psyche itself. From a psychological standpoint this makes sense as the instincts are always trying to tyrannize over each other. As Nietzsche noted in The Will to Power:
“Every drive is a kind of lust to rule; each one has its perspective that it would like to compel all the other drives to accept as a norm.”
The gods overseeing the battlefield – Romeyn de Hooghe, De Belegringh van Groeningen (c. 1672) Hebrew University of Jerusalem
Portals to the Underworld – When reviewing various ethnographic and anthropological records one is constantly introduced to the proposition of caves, the sea, the underground, tunnels, etc., being portals to the underworld. According to Mircea Eliade in Shamanism: Archaic Techniques of Ecstasy, caves are “concrete symbols of passage into another world, or a descent to the underworld”. This sentiment coincides nicely with the definition Dr. Jung puts forth in his work Psychology and Alchemy where he states:
“The cave represents the seclusion and darkness of the unconscious.”
What is important to understand here is that up is really down; that one must descend into the darkness in order to achieve spiritual transfiguration. For how could one hope to process, transform, and ultimately integrate the instincts if they are not confronted on their own turf? This mystical axiom of Alchemy that one must descend or die to oneself before being reborn is elucidated upon at length in the novel The Magic Mountain by Thomas Mann. Quoting again from Dr. Jung in Psychology and Alchemy we discover the following:
“The purpose of the descent as universally exemplified in the myth of the hero is to show that only in the region of danger (watery abyss, cavern, forest, island, castle, etc.) can one find the “treasure hard to attain” (jewel, virgin, life-potion, victory over death).”
Bohemian Grove – The reader will recall from earlier that the gods are often disguised in the form of animals or therianthropes. But even more intriguing than this is the animal form they so often choose: the owl, as noted in John Mack’s Passport to the Cosmos. It is well established that the owl has always been associated with the Goddess (wisdom and the black arts) as the gods have always been considered the protectors, guardians, or agents of the same. And so, could it be anymore clear as to what Bohemian Grove is really about? Ultimately, the point of the Occult Elite making sacrifice to the gods is one of a mutually beneficial relationship, as noted in H.P. Lovecraft’s The Shadow over Innsmouth.
What is the Devil? Finally, after all of our deep-sea diving and subterranean mining, we have come to the bare root of the so-called reptilians. Here it is important to understand that the gods that are ruling our world today are mostly demons that have boomeranged back on us as a result of the suppression of the unconscious mind. You could look at it as the instincts of decadence and debauchery lording as master over the instincts of life. And just as the gods are all manifestations of one thing (unconscious) so too are the demons. As to the latter, that one thing just so happens to be the devil.
Now, the 64 trillion dollar question: What is this Poseidon-Pluto-Hades-Neptune-Shiva that is exactly the devil in Christian mythology? Who is this dragon the Buddha slew under the Bodhi Tree and appears as the Adversary in the Book of Revelations? What are we to make of this Great Magician of Aleister Crowley; this negative side of the astral light as outlined by Eliphas Levi; this lead that drives the alchemist mad and complicates the Work? In a footnote buried like a needle in a haystack within Jung’s Alchemical Studies we find one of the most accurate definitions of this Leviathan:
“The devil is the Saturnine form of the anima mundi.”
What Dr. Jung is referring to here is the chaos, massa confusa, prima materia or undifferentiated primitive instinctual animalistic dark aspect of the unconscious mind. This arcane substance (Mercurius), which is the basis of the Work, contains everything that is needed. It is fully autonomous being like the dragon that begets, reproduces, slays, and devours itself. As Democritus is reputed to have said:
“Nature rejoices in nature, nature conquers nature, nature rules over nature.”
It is important to note that the Stone issues or is born from the darkness of this prima materia (order out of chaos). For does not Spring issue from Winter? Is not enlightenment lighting up that which is dark? And this is why the alchemists said such seemingly blasphemous things such as “God’s love burns in hell”. Or why the adept Apuleius wrote the following in The Golden Ass:
“At midnight I saw the sun shining as if it were noon.”
But this prima materia is just one aspect of Mercurius; the other being the Self. For Mercurius stands at the beginning and end of the Great Work. As prima materia he is in his lowest form (dragon) and as the Lapis Philosophorum (rose, phoenix, lapis, stone, treasure hard to attain, etc.) he reaches his height. It is his transformation that brings about the Chymical Wedding of Christian Rosenkreutz. For as the Rosarium Philosophorum states:
“The opus proceeds from the one and leads back to the one.”
Ultimately, the dragon, which it should be noted is synonymous with the Serpent in the Garden of Eden, is a dual force underlying all of life (just like the unconscious). It is that androgynous paradoxical cosmic serpent that dogmatic religion cut in half. Within this context, a myriad of different variables are de-mystified. For example, why Kali (another variation of the Goddess) is characterized as the “water that kills and vivifies”; why the number 666 has a positive connotation in some cultures and a negative overtone in others; why the dragon/serpent is at once vilified and revered; why Lucifer (the morning star) means both Christ and the devil; and why the shamans the world over consider the life force tremendum of the world – that web of power that underlies the universe – to be a dualistic force that can be used for good (attainment of the Ultimate) or evil (black magick/sorcery).
In the end, as long as we maintain this patently absurd posture of over-emphasizing conscious life at the expense of the unconscious, Lilith (another name for the prima material/screech owl) – that flaming sword in the Garden of Eden – that shamanistic anima that is both dangerous and has transformative power – will continue to block the way back (which is really forward). Ultimately, the base instinctual aspects of the unconscious mind will have to be confronted/processed/integrated if we are to address this psychic split within man.

Integration as the Way OutWe are never going to integrate that which we demonize and vilify. This fact highlights the crux of our current conundrum. It is what created the situation of opposed opposites in the first place. It is what led to this psychic split in man that is the source of our collective insanity. Casting these gods out has now made us feel like we need to cast them out. For it was us who threw open the gates of the psychic underworld and unleashed the hordes of hellions; us who invited the Vampire in. As Paracelsus wrote in De Ente Spirituali:
“A healthy mind is a castle that cannot be invaded without the will of its master; but if they (Larvae) are allowed to enter, they excite the passions of men and women, they create cravings in them, they produce bad thoughts which act injuriously on the brain; they sharpen the animal intellect and suffocate the moral sense.”
The key phrase in the above is “sharpen the animal intellect and suffocate the moral sense”. Does this sentiment not perfectly encapsulate our modern day sex (Venus) and death (Saturn) soaked cannibalistic pop-culture? If so, why the emphasis on sex and death? The reason is because sex and death act as the two main underlying correlates of temporality. These two elements directly correspond with the two mainsprings of delusion that modern psychology recognizes as eros (desire) and thanatos (aggression).
It is these two chief motivations and underpinnings of life that attach us to our Matrix-like construct and keep the curtain of Maya from falling. In short, it is an effective way to clip our wings and keep us grounded.
While we may wish to run away from our fears we simply cannot. For life is the labyrinth; life is the Lodge. As such, we only meet ourselves along the way. In a holographic universe where every part is the whole suppression, indifference, and an us vs. them mentality fractures, demarcates, delineates, and fragments the world. This acts to distance us from our true Self by playing into the hands of an uproarious underworld that is currently in possession of the human race. As Geoff Byrd puts it:
“The power vacuum was created by us. It is our own inability to face our own personal demons and heal our psychological trauma that allows this to happen.”
In order to integrate the parts of ourselves that we’ve denied we must come to terms with and understand that which we repressed. It is an established fact of psychotherapy that through understanding and experience of underlying contents we can free ourselves from compulsion. In doing so, we facilitate the integration of the instincts which is a pre-requisite to completing the process of Individuation. Note that alchemy is a psychic projection of this process in symbolic form. And that both alchemy and Jungian Individuation are identical to shamanic initiation.
In the end, our goal is to turn a dragon into a rose; to square the circle; to consciously collaborate with the unconscious process of Individuation and thereby bring about a transforming of the unconscious that results in the actualization of a unified Whole. You could call this “Wholeness” Spirit although to be clear there is no pure spirit. For the Great Alchemical Work is a union of heaven and hell on earth. Not abandoning the body, not annihilating the instincts, not denying life itself but rather transfiguring or spiritualizing the instincts and life itself. At any rate, Spirit is at once spiritual and corporeal. As Nietzsche noted in The Antichrist:
“The “pure spirit” is a pure stupidity.”
In the final analysis, we can become zombified machine-like beasts enslaved under a scientific dictatorship totality devoid of any humanity or we can transform that diabolical character living in Saturn into a psychopomp that illuminates the way and allows us to become living philosophical stones. The stakes are in the stratosphere. So let us choose wisely.
