California Led U.S. with 490 UFO Sightings in 2017
UFO sightings are nothing new. The Puritans reported strange sightings and lights in the sky as early as the 1600s. With the advent of movies about outer space and unidentified flying objects came even more sightings. The National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC) has an entire website dedicated to the "collection and dissemination of objective UFO data." The organization curates reports of UFO sightings in the U.S. and Canada via a web form and a phone hotline, which has operated almost continuously since 1974. NUFORC logged a total of 4,655 sightings in 2017, down from the 2016 total of 5,619.
A recent report came from New Mexico on December 14. A woman reported that she and her husband saw a triangular object with bright green lights near Santa Fe. She claims they "saw an object flying across the Interstate in a southeasterly direction. It appeared triangular with bright green lights around its entire periphery."
"From my husband's perspective, it appeared larger than a full moon," she reported. "By the time it crossed my field of vision (I was in the passenger seat), it appeared slightly smaller than a full moon. It was perhaps several hundred feet in front and above us and appeared to be moving at about 100 mph or less. It seemed to be heading down and then it vanished."
NUFORC spoke with the witness via telephone and "found her to be very eloquent, and very sober-minded. We suspect that she is an excellent witness."
NEXT: The Number of UFO Sightings by StateCalifornia far and away submitted the most reports of UFO sightings, topping the list with 490 in 2017. Florida was next with 308, followed by Washington (192), Arizona(180), and New York (170). New Mexico, home to the famous 1947 UFO sighting in Roswell, came in at number 25 with 73 reported sightings. Perhaps surprisingly, Nevada, where the legendary Area 51 is located, reported only 55 sightings, coming in at number 29 overall. N. Dakota, Hawaii, and S. Dakota had the fewest reports, with 6, 13, and 16 respectively.

Some recent reports out of California include: an "orange light flying in the sky that was changing direction very rapidly" in Sacramento; "a small, quiet, blinking object; it's movements were very smooth, unlike a plane or a helicopter" in Carmichael; a "group of about 25 chevron shaped crafts all glowing a soft orange color" in Daly City; a "large, dull red-colored, round object with a darker brownish glow around the outside going very fast" in Watsonville; and a "RED light seen at night gliding together and lights disappearing one by one along with sound" in Hawthorn.
Mufon Flooded with UFO Reports Tonight
UPDATED: 12/10/17 3:44pm
The strange lights in the sky were caused by C-17s performing a multi-state military exercise, not UFOs. Below is a reference of a what a C-17 formation looks like. This video is from another date. Read the full story here
Multiple reports are flooding Mufon tonight from Colorado, Kansas, Texas and more. Witnesses are reporting multiple flashing red lights flying in a straight line across the sky.
This is what 9 news in Denver had to say:
The 9NEWS newsroom has received well over a dozen phone calls, emails and messages about a series of single-file lights that flew over the Cherry Creek/Washington Park area of the metro.
At this time, 9NEWS has put in calls to the FAA and the Air Force to try and figure out what these may have been.
The Federal Aviation Authority says surely they were aircraft of some kind - they would need more information to be able to pin down exactly what type of aircraft they were and what they were doing.
The Centennial Airport has said they don't know what it was. They did track a single plane over the area - but nothing like the pictures and videos out there.
We'll update you when we hear back from the Air Force.

(0:30 on is slowed down and closer up) Taken on December 9th, at just after 9:00pm. 13+ lights, mostly red but a few white flew in a long line across the sky, and got closer together the further west they traveled before disappearing over the horizon.

Saw a huge meteor or "shooting star" over Denver, then a few minutes after this happened. Looked like planes of helicopters. But why so close to each other. At least a dozen craft counted.
UFO Spotted In Kasganj, Uttar Pradesh
A UFO was spotted by in India. I can't confirm the validity of this UFO sighting, but by the looks of this photo it's fake. I'm not one to call out hoaxes, but I'll let you guys decide. Below is a link to the alleged sighting.

Screaming Family Flees Hovering UFO
A vacationing family in La Rinconada, Argentina reported a UFO sighting that they say left them terrified and running for dear life. They also claim they have photographic proof of the encounter because one member of the fambam snapped a pic of the object. The only problem with their report is, researchers aren't believing it.
The South American "Griswold's", as I like to call them, since they want to remain anonymous, say they noticed a "flying saucer" as they watched a group of bikers cross a bridge.
But many UFO researchers are declaring shenanigans after hearing the "South American Griswold's" report. They say something doesn't add up. Some are saying it was a case of mistaken identity and what they witnessed was a lenticular cloud. Some are saying it was a fabrication.
A researcher believing the report was a fabrication was quoted saying:
"I have witnessed UFOs before, several times, once with dozens of soldiers in the parking lot. None of us panicked...none of us said...run!
"Usually people stare as long as possible, trying to understand what they are seeing." "I have witnessed UFOs before, several times, once with dozens of soldiers in the parking lot. None of us panicked...none of us said...run!
I have to agree with this man. When I had my massive craft encounter, I just stood there with no emotion. I was just trying to figure out what the heck I was looking at.
UFO encounters like the one the "Griswold's" are claiming to have doesn't happen like it does in the movies. Nine times out of 10 the witnesses never run because by the time they figure out what they're looking at, the craft is already on its way out.

Mass UFO Sighting
Witnesses in California and Nevada reported seeing a UFO that was seen from Las Vegas, Nevada to California. Officials eventually confirmed it was space junk.
NASA and US Officials made a statement about the alleged mass UFO sighting. They claim it was not a UFO, but a Russian SL4 rocket that re-entered the atmosphere above Arizona.
I'm not convinced the response given by US Officials is totally legit. I don't think it was a UFO, but I think something seems a little fishy, and I'm not the only one.
Many who witnessed the event were not convinced it was rocket. Witnesses were reporting that what they say was a crashing UFO or missiles being fired.
